Taycan brake noise.

My brakes make a godawful noise when driven in heavy rain. Probably due to a 'buildup' of crap (technical term) on the brake discs. Running through the procedure below solves the noise problem for me. If this procedure doesn't do anything, then you have another problem.

I would expand on the 'brake a few hard times'. This involves running the car to a high speed and engaging antilock fully until you've ALMOST stopped. (Obviously find a safe place to do this). Do not stop and keep your pads engaged - this can damage hot brakes. Repeat this cycle three or more times - if you can smell the brakes, then you've done it correctly.

WOW that sounds very scary, lol sorry clearly not an Real Porsche driver here lol... will it damage the car by braking like this?? high speed meaning 50Km 80KM??? Do i slam on the brake all the way and hold until the car stops?? Thank you

There's an easier way to engage the mechanical brakes only. At speed, shift in to neutral, and all the braking will be done by the mechanical brakes and not by regen.

PSCB Pads were updated after 2022 (mentioned in a TSB).

Have you checked the inner brake disc surface?
On one of my 8 disc surfaces - inner left rear - the coating has delaminated. All other surfaces are fine. Currently in a long running warranty dispute - Porsche claim this is normal wear and tear rather than a manufacturing defect.

PSCB brake discs are sold at 4/5 times more than the cost of standard brake discs, on the basis of superior longevity:

• ‘Hard like Diamond’
• ‘it doesn’t rust’
• ‘Tungsten and carbon formed a mixed crystal so hard it can be used to cut glass’
• ’Tungsten carbide is one of the hardest materials in the world after diamond, and around 10 times harder than gray cast iron’
• ’once coated, your rotor is thoroughly armoured’
• ’the tungsten carbide discs have a service life 30 per cent longer than their gray-iron counterparts’
• ’this tungsten-carbide coating sprayed onto iron-cast rotors hardens them fivefold, guaranteeing world class stopping power and even adding a year or two to the lifespan of your rotors’
• ’ordinary cast-iron rotors are extremely tough, but PSCB technology takes durability to a whole new level’
• ’PSCB brakes last thirty per cent longer than uncoated iron rotors. This amounts to considerable cost savings over the lifespan of your Porsche’

Either all of the claims above are false, or there is a manufacturing defect.

How did you get on in the end with this bud? Going through the same at the moment with Swindon - rear right pad has deteriorated and thus damaged the disc lamination on the inside.

Funny, when searching for issues regarding my "Electrical System Failure" message I came across this tread. I've had this brake noise since I have the Taycan. Also mentioned it to the dealer. They said it is nothing to worry about. Just corrosion wearing off while braking the first time. I only have this when the brake is used the first time after a few hours. They claim it doesn't affect the brake performance.

That can happen with all cars, it’s ’normal’. Premature delamination of the disc coating isn’t normal, the noise doesn’t go away with use.
