Completion today of a long planned project: painted the cladding (textured wheel arches) in body color. More details about the Turbo S part numbers are here in this thread.
Looks incomparably better - more premium - than the textured black stuff in my opinion. Porsche could charge whatever they want for this, strange that they don't. Sport Turismos are not imported in Asia so CT4S was the only available avenue for me.
Getting here was a journey. First finding the right parts, parking sensor included, cost me one iteration. Then getting the parts to Malaysia: local Porsche importer was quoting double the price from Eurospares so i hauled them from Europe.
Then finding a capable and willing paint shop.
Getting them to match the color (one iterations until i gave them the tow hook cover as a sample to match).
Then painting the parts with the expected quality. First pass had way too many defects, pin holes, insufficient coverage on the upper edges, etc ... A mess.
And finally installation. A bit nerve wracking at first (given the initial paint job QC and the working conditions), but the bengladeshi guy quickly showed that he knew exactly how to work with VHB and did a very thorough, methodical job.
Cladding removal and hole plugging is not an option with the front parking sensors. The front bumper has a huge void and would have to be changed as well.
