Believe it or not, this question isn’t about whether or not to option the insulated glass. My question is whether or not this glass comes with any factory tinting. If so, is it only on the rear windows and back window? Is it a light or medium tint? If there is some tint, I will probably leave it as is. This may vary by country so looking for input from North American owners specifically but others are welcome to weigh in If you know.

thanks in advance!

I have the insulated glass, and I had to ad tinting on all 4 windows and the back window. The insulated glass helps with the road noise and the hot or cold weather, but no tint. Hope this helps.

Ok thanks. My US spec Penny and Macan both have darker windows in the rear as standard. Wasn’t sure if that was the case for Taycan.

I agree with the others, I have the insulated glass and it is barely tinted. No difference between front and back windows either.

There is no tint but the IR reflecting material in the glass will create a certain "sheen" on the glass that can be obvious from certain angles. This also occurs on the front windscreen.

Some people say it's subtle, some say it drives them crazy lol

I'm not US-based so maybe this isn't so useful, but FWIW I didn't get the noise/insulated glass (no regrets btw) and before delivery was gearing up to get the windows tinted. When I got the car I felt that the "natural tint" of the windows was decent and decided to save my money instead. My car is white, so maybe that helps with the contrast. But there is certainly some tint there naturally, and looks good from factory in my opinion.

Thanks for this. It seems that most new cars have a little tint. Wasn’t sure if I was going to have to add this to my post delivery “to-do” list. If mine is delivered as you describe, I plan to leave it as is.

OK, one interesting effect is that I too had this sheen and indeed in certain circumstances quite noticeable (bit not at all bothersome to me) - HOWEVER, after installing the clear STEK protection film on my front windshield I think (I need to confirm with diff light positions) that this sheen has been drastically reduced (somehow)! Almost like a polarizing effect adding the STEK layer seems to minimize the reflection/scatter froth the OEM IR layer. Again I only sort of 'noticed' this recently (STEK installed a week or so ago) and will try to verify but fairly sure the effect has been reduced.
