Well; judging by car reviewers, some can't use them. They are 70-80, with big bellies, they can't fit in the car, and even if they could, they don't have the reflexes anymore to drive them. Most maybe, but not all. How else do you explain 5+ year old Porsches with less than 1,000 miles on the odometer? Perhaps, some people's definition of "use" of the Porsche is different than "drive"? Speculative investment, garage decoration, status symbol, something to show off on the driveway to the neighbors, etc?
So my explanation is that.
But sure, following COVID there are plenty of people buying cars as "investment", as stupid as it sounds. But we are talking EVs, and specifically premium EVs, and I doubt anyone could even think an EV can be an investment.
Other points, all valid. But Porsche wants the numbers to go up every year, and the numbers won't go up every year without appealing to new consumers, and new consumers have other expectations from an EV, as can been seen in the Chinese market.
