C&D posted test results for the RWD/PB+ Taycan online, and the results are quite confusing: 0-60mph in 4.7s (w/ 1ft rollout), 1/4 mile in 12.9s @ 115mph, 0-100mph in 10.3s and 0-130mph in 16.4s. I don't think there is any other car on the road right now with sub 6s 60-100mph and 6s 100-130mph times, but only a high 4s 0-60. At speed, the performance difference to a Taycan 4s shrinks quite a bit - to 60mph, the RWD is 1.3s slower (40%), from 60-100mph difference is 0.9s (20%) and 100-130mph gives 0.3s/5% difference.

Conclusion for me is that the 2.5s vs 10s overboost vs regular HP numbers are a very simplified look at what is really going on, and that the 0-60mph is artificially limited (and that Porsche went a bit overboard with that). Anyone who's launched a RWD Taycan on a clean dry road can confirm that this is not traction limited.

All of that is not very important IRL, but to me quite curious.

Just read the same article and was equally a bit baffled.

Great for the RWD if the numbers are repeatable. It definitely captures my experience test driving a RWD when deciding to go from my 4S sedan to a CT4. Still a blast to drive and at cruising speeds you definitely feel like there's plenty of power available.

TBH the Taycan perhaps more than just about every other model out there is about forking over am obscene amount of money for just accelaration. Cosmetically there's no major difference between an 80k example or a 220k example.

When these cars go out of warranty, they'll be unlocked and same performance will be achieved. Cant wait to see it on done on salvage cars.

Another set of data points: A Panamera 4s is a massive 1.1s faster 0-60mph than the RWD/PB+ Taycan, 0.8s faster to 100mph, but then 0.4s slower for 0-130mph. So the Taycan is much slower with the supposed 2.5s overboost using launch control, but then out-accelerates the Panamera from 100-130mph by a whopping 1.2s once power has supposedly dropped to 375HP (65HP less than the Panamera)?

I'm tempted to buy a Dragy and try to figure our how much HP I actually have at my disposal under which condition, as the Porsche numbers make no sense vs the observed performance.

I had posted the official Porsche figures for the RWD/PB+ previously as they seemed a bit strange. Same as standard battery 0-60 and 1/4 mile - but faster in between??

Also, when compared with the other Taycans, I had assumed/guessed you lost a bit on 0-60 due to AWD v RWD. But once the momentum is there, the lighter RWD may reduce the advantage..... Just guessing here, becuse grip doesn't seem to be an issue launching my car in the dry??

It’s all software controlled to allow clear water between the models. There’s also som efficiency controls built in owing to low rpm torque curve drawing more current than when rolling.
