I do wish the seat would go back further. My pants and belt rubs the steering wheel if I am not careful when getting in, and it bugs me that my steering wheel is scuffed.

Have you tried using the setting that programs the seat for easier ingress/egress? It is not the same as the numbered seat presets.

For the map and navigation complaints, is there a reason that you don't use Waze or Google Maps? They don't have as many annoying notifications, and their functionality is far superior to that of any native car manufacturer's software. And certainly will always be better.

Great post - made me smile. Agree with so much.

- I hate that the app states it's up to date, and then clicking on the little car icon it also states it was updated many hours ago. And it can take many refreshes until it actually does update. What a PITA crappy bit of code.

- Comfort access does the opposite of what it should. Ie, makes it harder. This because of the position of the b-pillar in relation to the door and seat. Everyone loves my Taycan and they all hate getting in and out.

- Massive hate reminder last weekend was the satnav and the inability to rename a saved address. WTF - my 2005 BMW had a more intuitive address book! I can't see how anyone thought searching by address rather than a name was a good idea.

- Hate that I can't fast forward / rewind a track. I needs buttons on the wheel to toggle though media, then FF / RW (which would also change DAB station). My Golf 7.5 nailed the wheel buttons.

- I want vents I can move with my finger and a rotary dial to tun on and off.

Love driving the car though and it looks wonderful too.

There's one weird issue I do have.
Most of the time when I enter the car and press the brake the ignition switches on. I'd say 8/10 times it's like that.

Other times I have to manually press the power button. I have no idea why. Dash just does not turn on for some reason.

On our Cupra Born (MEB) this functionality works perfectly every time. Have never needed to use the power button manually ever.

My experience:
After you enter the car, CLOSE THE DOOR, and press the brake, the ignition will switch on automatically.
When the driver's door is open, you'll have to press the power button to power on the car.

I have some of the same issues. The door handles pulling in when I try to open my unlocked door is a stupid design flaw. One of MANY! (Porsche, are you listening? I sure hope so. Keep it up and your precious customers’ fetishistic devotion will evaporate!) I feel its because of an overly sensitive touch-to-lock area, stupidly placed where hands often brush close to. It senses proximity, not just contact! Now I CAREFULLY come at the door handle from below. This seems to work well. But this is yet another example of engineers designing things, NOT product designers.

How about never remembering that i like regen’ in normal mode? I’m forced to select it every frikking time! WTF Porsche? Imposing YOUR opinion on me, your customer, is flat wrong.

Luckily my myriad issues with the operating system have MOSTLY been fixed with an extensive wiring harness replacement, front AND rear! Ugh. And how about that back-up camera view? Worst in the industry. Yugo would do better! Porsche HAS seemingly improved some functionality, like my GPS Auto-Lift “feature” that was designed by some junior engineer. (It recorded the location of the “save” action several seconds after the need arose, NOT the lift action point. LAME)

My Comfort Entry auto-start “feature” works about 2/3 of the time. Why? These issues are indeed first world problems, but I am not wrong expecting them to just work in a $170k vehicle from a company that brags about engineering with every breath. My trust in the vehicle is eroding.

Sorry, but NO. I was told this by the dealer too, but it is not completely correct. The auto-start WILL function without pressing the brake. Mine often does. When it works.( 2/3) Door must be closed, though.

I don't know if you said but what about having to do the 2 finger reset on the PCM for some stupid reason. Example I couldn't get the volume to come on for the radio for either an FM station or a Podcast.

Something force me to do this almost monthly.

Minor Hate - Daily annoyances that make me unhappy

1. Ingress and egress. I despise getting in and out of this car, something that has only worsened over time. Exacerbating the problem, I have to manually move the wheel forward and seat back when I get out, and reverse when I get in. (I've programmed seat memory buttons 2 and 3 for this purpose.). So annoying.
2. The PCM. I realized the other day I haven't had radio issues in a while...and I also realized it's because I've given up on playing music or podcasts in the PCM, and I just use Carplay. The only thing I use the PCM for is the map, which works reasonably well, except....
   1. Why does the map warn me about wrong-way driving that is happening miles and miles away?
   2. Why does the map tell me alternate routes are available, without presenting a way to select one?
   3. Why does the map think every single place in the world is a "restricted access route?"
   4. Why is sending a destination from the phone such a hit-or-miss proposition?

Super Hate - Issues that make me want to send it directly to the crusher

1. When I do the "Taycan Squeeze" to get in, and my key (in pocket) contacts the steering wheel, opening the frunk. This makes me so angry and it happens multiple times per week. My mother-in-law's Hyundai has a phone key FFS, why do I still need this stupid fob??
2. Sometimes when approaching the car, the door handles open up, anticipating my arrival...then the second I go to reach for the handle they snap shut with "chirp chirp!" Tugging on the handle won't open it and I have to get out my stupid keyfob - like an animal - and unlock it. I genuinely feel the car is doing it on purpose and laughing at me.

Absolutely this. Mine did that too.

Luckily for me my idiotic OPC (Silverstone) deleted Comfort Entry from my car and simply went into denial mode about it refusing to answer any emails.

Useless customer service to be expected from the Shytner dealer chain, the main reason I left AMG as a brand.

So I don't have to worry about useless comfort entry anymore, because they deleted it while doing warranty work (AC charger) and refuse to reinstate it.

First world problems indeed.

How about when Porschy gets confused if my wife has her key fob in her purse and the car can't figure out which master to obey. Way too many bells and whistles on these things.

Yet my 7yo Tesla Model S manages this situation perfectly and *they're* supposed to be the one with the bad reputation.

I've always suspected it was doing that. At least initially. Seemed better after updates but even then often unreliable.

I often end up with my finger above the button only to just press it exactly when auto lift decided to finally do something and me thus lowering it again. How about a 2 second grace period after raising? The normal way to lower the car is to just speed up anyway.

My nits aren't exactly the same as these, but with our Venn diagrams of nits, there's a good amount of overlap for sure...

A few more:

1. "Kick underneath to open trunk" never seems to work the first time. Second attempt works but I usually kick in too far and get bumper-in-the-shin. Owee.
2. Using the lower screen to control the upper screen (via the yellow-border "focus" item) first requires extensive lower-screen-scribbling to get the yellow-border "focus" item to even appear. (I don't like getting fingerprints on the upper screen. iDrive knob controller in BMW iX works great for this.)
3. Related to above, lower screen can't be used to control CarPlay at all ugh.

All in all, a great car - but I do wish I could just get the damn recalls done and not have them hanging over me...

Regarding the issue with the door handles retracting when attempting to open the door; I find that happens when I have my phone with my keys in the pocket. Is it because the phone interferes with the signal and the car things I walked away? Same with the hatch not closing when I press the close and lock button. It seems to be unable to recognize the key in my pocket when it’s with my phone.

I also echo the lack of a fast forward button. ?‍

Numerous non-EV power train issues: I just got a recall for a seat cushion / air bag flaw. Can’t blame that on the novelty of EV power trains- that’s just shitty car making. Also add to that annoying rattles and a stupid arm rest console phone charger that needs the phone to be perfectly positioned within millimeter accuracy. I can generously give Porsche a pass for EV issues but this just looks amateurish.

Now I’m going off on a tangent to rant but as a first time Porsche buyer, the entire “experience” has been shit. Buying in person was shit having to deal with the most condescending and clueless salesmen at my local dealer. Then the service department has been atrocious. Constantly cancelling on me or pushing out appointments because of a lack of technicians. Some of the guys are clearly passionate enthusiasts which are better but most of the folks that are client facing are just douche bags.

So today I had my car serviced and the loaner was a 2025 Taycan base model with the Performance Battery+. Must say the PCM was much smoother, with CarPlay startup almost instantly. Sadly, I didn't have time to play around with the suspension or entry/exit Comfort settings, so nothing to add there.

However, I was astounded to see range of 343 miles at 91% SOC. This is over 100 miles better than my 2021 4s on a summer day at 100% SOC.

One other finding was that the Regen Mode was a permanent setting, and I came away generally impressed with the changes Porsche has made to J1.II.

Agree - this is the best place to let me see media controls.
