[UK] Motorised charge port half opened itself and now stuck?!

Update: I went back to the car after a while and the console started showing left charging door malfunction. I tried to close in center console and it closed itself, right side problem resolved itself as well.

interesting thing is temperature was above 0 Celsius the whole time, I feel it’s more like a software glitch than mechanical problem.

This same issue has now happened to my 2023 GTS three times over the past five months. The driver-side charge port gets stuck halfway, makes sporadic efforts to open and then close unsuccessfully, goes back to the halfway spot, and you get the screen warning about the charger being impaired.

It appears to be a recurring software issue. I leave it overnight and the problem disappears. But it does make me worry about what happens if this problem arose at low SoC while halfway through a long drive…

I have had this problem from time to time. I had a really strange one the other day while charging on AC. I charged AC on the left charge port, but when I opened the car the message was that the Right charge port was impaired. It was closed and all looked fine. Unplugging the power cable from the car, resulted in half closed left port with message that charge ports were impaired. Nonnof them would move whatever I tried.

Locked the car 5 minutes and walked away . All good once I tried again. All messages disappeared.

The software seems to get confused at some stages when this happens.

I had the same thing a week ago, "funny" was the message that the charging port was blocked on the left side. This while the right side was half open. They had to tow the car to the dealer. Once there, the problem resolved itself overnight and I was able to collect the car again, they had washed it for me though.

As I was getting in the car to leave for work today I noticed the driverside charge port was about three quarters open. The dashboard had a chargeport impaired error and I couldn't use the central touchscreen charge screen to close it either. I tried using the manual release but it didn't seem to do anything either (presumably because it was already partially open). I had to get to work and it allowed me to drive but now I can't charge as the driverside port that is stuck is not open enough to allow access to the port and the passenger side won't open either as the driverside is not shut. Just wondering if anyone has seen this before?

The really weird thing is that when I checked my driveway camera footage a bit later to see if I just hadn't noticed it being open beforehand it was definitely closed all day and about 3 minutes before I went out to unlock the car the chargeport spontaneously opened itself. The only thing I can think that could have happened around then is picking up my keys, but I don't think I pressed any buttons and besides the buttons on the key shouldn't open the chargeport anyway should they? The camera footage clearly shows the car properly being unlocked a good few minutes later when I actually go out to the car as the wing mirrors then fold out.

I've got Porsche assistance coming out tomorrow to take a look but just wondering if it was something anyone had seen before? A quick search didn't seem to throw up anything!

Had similar problem with both charge port doors not closing or half-way closing but then after a while it would close on it's own or after I swiped the sensor. Porsche service rep asked me the next time it happens to take a video of me trying to close it. Gave them the video and they ordered new motors/actuators for both charge port doors. No problems after that.

Just experienced this problem with electric charge port. LHD car. Not cold here - approx 14C, 6-8C overnight. got in car, saw error message that Left charge port impaired. check - closed but unrepsonsive. Was fitting new roof rack and mrs walked past stating ‘your charge port’s open” (right side - CCS) tried to close and got stuck half way. Unresponsive for a while then a bit of presure got it to move open then close automatically, though half the movement was slower than normal. Still got the left charge port impaired message. Locked car - ill give it a few hours than go out and check. Not very good.


off to mountains in two days so bit concerned i wont be able open charge ports.

Solution found. Untap on the menu auto lock doors when going out from car and untap rear mirroring self close. Now it is not happening in my Taycan brand new
