Fortunately they are not relevant to the 4CT purchase!
Although I do worry in a way about the reaction of Grandpa S -- he died long before I was born, but I know he was a card-carrying member of the Communist Party ... although also a successful immigrant small businessman.
Plus much of his family was murdered by the Nazis.
But when my father studied in Germany in the early 1950s, he found everyone there sincerely sorry for all that.
In contrast to Chrysler Corporation (and its corporate successors), who never apologized for inflicting our family with three Dodge Dart sedans and two Dodge Aries sedans.

Because this is my car and I’m driving to Mt Greylock after dropping you off at school.
I don’t like this car.
Why not?
It’s not electric like Momma’s car.
So I should get an electric car.

A medium sized station wagon, sure. Should I buy it?

Transporter just called. Truck is way too big for my residential neighborhood (despite the big trucks that regularly come through, but this is indeed much longer) although the dispatcher picked out a supermarket a few blocks away.
Had been scheduled for Monday but can deliver tonight between 11:30 and 12. Unfortunately that would be past my bedtime and long past closing time for the supermarket, hence arousing all sorts of suspicions.
Instead, arranged for 6:30 tomorrow morning. Will leave it there until I get the plates later in the day but will attach an Audi plate (but not drive it) just so that a car without any plates does not attract attention.
Will also get groceries since I’m out of cow milk and I can drink only so much of my family’s oat milk. So that will explain my absence. Although I might return before family awakens.
Then a bike ride later in the day to get plates, affix to car, drive it home, and, uh, we’ll see what happens!

If I were driving it, yes.
But why would any cop run the plate of a car legally parked for a few hours during the morning in a large supermarket parking lot?

Don't cops patrol supermarket parking lots where you live? If they deem it a fancy car, especially if they suspect it might have been there overnight since it's there really early in the morning, they could run the plate. I don't remember MA laws, but most states copes will routinely run plates if they suspect an abandoned or stolen car. Also, at least in WA, it's illegal to park a car in a public street without valid plates - not sure if that also applies to supermarket lots. That said, the HOA where I live had a car towed parked on the street with expired plates and the process was to put a written notice on the car first, wait 24hr, then tow it, so you might be safe from actual towing, but not sure if parking a car in a private supermarket parking lot with mismatched plates is an infraction or not. You work with attorneys, perhaps ask one?

Asking my clients about this might not be such a good idea…plus i don’t have many clients in Massachusetts.

The parking lot is definitely private property. The only crime there (I’m a fan of the local newspaper police bulletin) is college students shoplifting Red Bull.
I’ve never seen cops patrolling the parking lot. The supermarket opens at 7:00, and the car is being delivered at 6:30. I could even just do work on my laptop in the car to minimize the time period when I’ll be away from it.
Affixing the wrong plates to a car even when it’s just sitting in a private parking lot is probably violating something (unless of course you do it in own garage, away from public view, such that nobody is being deceived), but I’m thinking that a car with no license plate has the potential to arouse suspicion if a cop just happens to see it, whereas scanning all the plates in this parking lot seems far less likely.

How about printing out the URL to this thread in 140-point font and putting it on the dashboard? The cops will be too busy laughing to write you any tickets.

Alternatively, I called the woman who I thought was the dispatcher, although now I realize she’s in the cab, and the driver must her husband/partner. They live in northern Idaho, so quite the journey.

I suggested a slightly closer supermarket but then she suggested a little pullout on a road only a block from me.
As I suspected, Google has not updated its image, as that pullout no longer exists and has been replaced by a tight rotary that must have been designed by wheel refinishers. (I’ve hit the curb there only once but I think my wife for awhile was hitting it once per day - has a little inward curve as you exit the rotary.)

However, they think the car can be unloaded on the stick part of our lollipop cul de sac.
So then I can drive it without plates for about 50 feet to our house.
In which case I’d be okay with doing it tonight.
So might have the Big Update at around 12 eastern / 8 pacific.

^ Heh heh!
Although fortunately (or is that, unfortunately?), no danger of that, as she likes compact cars and dislikes wagons (or SUVs). So the i4 is perfect for her. (Except for being faster than she needs, or I need, or anyone needs with New England speed limits.)

Off to bed now for a few hours, then waking up again to take delivery, after which I’ll go back to bed thinking it was all a dream (until I look out in the morning …).
