I’ve had a few issues over winter. Initially identified when my boot was stuck shut due to ice. Turned out a thin line of water had frozen inside the boot.

Took it in and had the rear wiper motor replaced. However it continued, took it back and was told this is just normal (hmmm). Gone in this morning and it’s just really wet and the car is steamed up inside especially on glass roof.

Anyone else had this issue and should I push further?

The rubber around the rear wiper was a problem. The changed it in mine for water in the trunk. It was another problem however. In mine the leaking was through the hooks for the cover. At the end it was a rubber between the roof and hatch that was not well fixed.

Mine has been in twice for this issue because the boot stopped opening - it is what will happen with yours as water is getting into the mechanism and stops it from working. First time they replaced the mechanism and then 3 months later it broke again.

There is a service bulletin for the problem - https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2023/MC-10242058-0001.pdf

This time they replaced the mechanism and all of the seals - re-tested it and no water is coming in now.

Thanks. That’s supposedly what was replaced previously but this seems worse. I’ll phone again then.

I see you are in Sheffield - same as me - it was Sheffield Porsche who fixed mine so they definitely know about the problem. I think they had my car 3 weeks ago.

It took enough dealer visits to try to solve my boot leak that it eventually ended up with the dealer principal.

It did eventually get fixed (3rd or 4th attempt?) and has so far been good over this winter.

There was water audibly sloshing around and visibly trickling out as and after the boot lift opened, and eventually it failed to open. After fix attempt one, the fault recurred and once again the boot would not open.

It is worth printing and taking the PDF linked above and stressing that potentially all of that work needs doing for a complete fix in case it's not the simpler wiper motor seal...

Thanks for the reply - frustrating it took so many attempts!

Definitely will be popping into the dealer - been really helpful that csm7djs above used the same dealer I'm at so can use his case as reference too

Spoke too soon :-( Came home from a weekend away with a working tailgate, went to load the car for another weekend away and it failed to open. Doesn't sound like any more water has made it into the tailgate, but possibly the (prior) damage to the wiring loom has become fatal. New part on order - let's see whether this resolves it...

Hope you get it sorted. Did they replace the boot lock during the last time they fixed it?

im still going though the anxiety of wondering if the boot will open everytime i press the button. Sometimes I even just press the button to test it even though I don’t need to.

It's a little unclear what was/wasn't replaced, but I *believe* so. I think I may also get in the habit of opening the boot whether I need to or not from now on...
