Always have to laugh when the source for an “article” is Reddit.

No need to fact check Reddit. 😂 Totally plausible that someone was carrying a bucket of water in the trunk of their brand new $150k+ car.

A guy spilled water inside the car and insurance covered the bill. How is this news?

I kinda laugh how the article made it sound like we should be shocked this isn’t a warranty claim.

Never met a car that was waterproof on the INSIDE from the factory. 🤷‍♂️

It must be us just talking on this thread for a few days and it goes down 7.2% today.
I find it very suspicious that Kim Java reviewer lady traded her Model X for Gravity.
I am thinking they had to just give it to her, but if she actually bought it, then I would expect her dumping this junk video soon. The review that she did with her family already showed lots of glitches, but the selling point is the range and that it has space like a van.

As much as I respect Lucid’s innovation and efficiency, I can’t bring myself to seriously consider buying one because it’s tough to see how they can survive.

And yes, I’m aware that similar things were said about Amazon and Tesla way back when…

They did say similar things about Amazon and Tesla.

But those are the exceptions, not the rules. They also said similar things about the thousands of tech companies that went bankrupt while Amazon and Tesla survived.

I don’t like those odds. Especially since Lucid is surviving on investor money and they don’t look like a smart investment at the moment.

I think Rivian has a much better shot with their R2 and R3 than Lucid with the Gravity.

The difference is that Tesla actually is mass producing cars where the interior (and everything else apart from the powertrain) is very cheap and has zero customization, so they have a good profit margin. The Model 3 and Model Y are very price competitive and affordable to the average person. The McDonalds of food chains.

Tesla also started with a Halo car - the Model S (let's not count the roadster here), which now accounts for less than 5% of sales. But they had a clear plan to create cheaper mass produced cars and they executed on it, and they did it when EV was new.

The Lucid though? Almost nothing can be customised, the software part is much less polished than on the Teslas, and the powertrain isn't really any better. Interior is nicer. However, there is almost no dealer support outside US.
Unlike Tesla they're not trying to mass produce affordable cars, but making more cars at the 100k+ tier.
With the way the company is doing you also have no idea if they will be around in 5 years time.

I guess you could say the Air is like the Model S, the gravity like the Model X, and now they are pivoting also to the $50000 segment according to their PR release, but Tesla barely survived this strategy having novelty on their side. It seems odd they are imitating them to a T when the novelty has worn off long ago.

Yeah, I’m not sure why so many car manufacturers tried to be the “next Tesla” by trying to mimic their business model.

It won’t work. Tesla went from first to mass market to 50% market share and profitability with few direct competitors.

Now there are 50+ models in the US all fighting for the other 50% of the market share. It’s a losing battle for small manufacturers like Lucid who don’t have another profitable division of vehicles they can pass their losses to. Those mostly gas powered vehicle companies have much deeper pockets to lose money on EVs while the herd gets thinned.
