I have gone back and forth between an Adam’s Polishes and Chemical Guys and both are fair. I am looking to upgrade. I have to run a water line to it (via hose) every time so one that can move on wheels is preferable, etc.

Electric or gas powered? Preferred PSI? Anyone used a handheld power washer?

I run an electric pressure washer and would recommend the same for you. Gas pressure washers typically exceed the safe level of PSI that are used for automotive paint finishes (800-1200 PSI). I own a Kranzle 1322TST. It’s considered one of the higher end electric pressure washers. It’s expensive and only sold in one place so I find it hard to recommend. A reasonably priced and high performing unit that I would recommend is the Active 2.0 pressure washer. Let me know if you need more info…..

Just bought an active as well - does exactly what I want it to do. Price is good, would recommend.

I use an old Kaercher K..something. Difficult to find parts (the handle seems to “wear out” and doesn’t turn off), but the main unit has been dead reliable. (Almost 20 years ?.)

I don't have one yet but will be picking up a Giraffe electric one with a hose reel. I'll mount just inside the garage and then run the supply hose to the outdoor spigot 3 feet around the corner. It seems like decent option.

Please watch this.
Active 2.0 or karcher k1700 cost less and work much better although you need to get a hose and reel. Something to consider depending on your use case.
Kranzle 1322 for the Porsche of electric pressure washers.

Electric Karcher to apply snow foam at low pressure to loosen the dirt then wash off before hand washing.

Tend not too use all pressure. Definitely do not use the swivelling dirt blaster head option on bodywork or wheels (abrasive)

Terrible hose cable - meant to be anti tangle which it patently isn't. Worst part of the washer but otherwise good.

Active 2.0. Just get it, unless your budget is over $1,000 - then get a Kranzle.
Absolutely agree, ordering an Active 2.0 soon. You want water flow over pressure for a car wash application. Anything that can deliver over 2 gpm at ~1000 - 1200 PSI is the sweet spot. To get that you will need to experiment with nozzle sizes. Forget gas, stick with electric.

OG is one of the few places where they have done the work and offer the packages that suit detailing. The Active 2.0 is well worth the money and is the fruit of years of "obsession" for the owner of OG, Matt.

I currently have a Greenworks system from Lowes with some larger nozzles to dial back the pressure but it's marginal at best which is why I'm going to replace it once we get our new place built.

I use a gas power washer, not sure what brand, but with the white head that so far doesn't damage anything. First I spray just with water and that adapter to knock off dirt/mud, then I use this foam canon - amazingly inexpensive and works WAY BETTER than the much more expensive Chemical Guys canon. I let the car sit with a coating of soap for a few minutes, then spray it off with the white head on the pressure washer. Then use a silicone squeegee to get rid of excess water, then finish up with shammy towel linked below.

I tend not too use a pressure washer to wash the car. I sometimes (like @W1NGE ), use one to apply snow foam but usually:

* Apply wheel treatment/rinse
* Wash off/rinse off
* Rinse the whole car down with hose
* Carefully wash with car shampoo/conditioner
* Wash down with hose

Then either I dry and wax (using a 'wet' wax), or I use Aquawax before drying for in-between or quick washes.

Sam's detailing drying towels are absolutely amazing btw: https://www.samsdetailing.co.uk/collections/microfibres-and-towels/products/drying-towel

For the car - Electric Karcher Cube and I follow this video - two bucket system and mtm foam cannons for car washing - Bing video. I find the Cube perfect for washing our vehicles, and for the price if it breaks just toss it out and buy another one on Amazon. I have had my for 2+ years with no problems.
For the home, garage floor, sidewalks, driveway..............gas powered Simpson Pro with Honda motor. Never ever for use on a vehicle. This thing will cut through wood, plasterboard, etc. but great for the tough jobs.
