What OBD adapter to buy?

Ok, I've had my Taycan a couple of weeks now and thinking about measuring SoH etc (withdrawal symptoms from my old Tesla M3).
I found this thread.

but it was a year ago and therefore maybe out of date.
I also need to go up a level to understand what is needed (I am a muppet you know!). How plug and play is it - ie I think it is a matter of attaching the dongle, linking it to an app and then linking that to car scanner? All of the info I am reading on here assumes the reader has some knowledge of ODB things.

In other words, is there a muppets guide to getting SoH information?

Car Scanner is excellent for reading SoH. Read their website for suggested dongles.

I’m using the very expensive ODBLink MX+ with an iPhone which works very well. Just plug it into the port, turn ignition on, open the app and go through the connect setup sequence. Used it just yesterday to read error codes to discover why my ACC stopped working - seems to be implausible values from a maladjusted radar module after my resent vandalism repair.

I’m using the very expensive ODBLink MX+ with an iPhone which works very well. Just plug it into the port, turn ignition on, open the app and go through the connect setup sequence. Used it just yesterday to read error codes to discover why my ACC stopped working - seems to be implausible values from a maladjusted radar module after my resent vandalism repair.

Car Scanner Pro is the software. I like the ability to set quick change profiles for different cars.

This is the OBD reader I purchased Amazon.com: Vgate iCar Pro Bluetooth 4.0 (BLE) OBD2 Fault Code Reader OBDII Code Scanner Car Check Engine Light for iOS/Android : Automotive I think you can get if for 2 or 3 dollars less elsewhere.

Worked fine for the 20 minutes we were able to spend with our car. Haven't offered this data up to the SoH thread because this is pre-delivery. But I do have this as a baseline if they do need to replace the battery though.

thanks both for your input. This sounds almost too easy! It does sound very plug and play.

Doug, in addition to the screen shot you have posted, have you got any other info screens that show data? I guess all the error codes are buried in threads on here which I will now search for and I'd be keen to see what sort of output is stored on the car on amounts of power used during charging and power used during drives.

I looked at the OBDLINK MX+ compatible vehicle list and it doesn't show Porsche. Does it work with the Taycan through standard OBD2 sentences? Can you reset the Taycan service indicator with it? Thanks.

Which iPhone app are you using with OBDLink MX+?

What are the 'extras'? I'm finding it difficult to negotiate myself around the sites with info.
I''ve looked at some of the graphs posted by Ciaranob and they look great but wonder what is the breadth of information available for the Taycan (most of the sites describing car scanner are for ICE cars).

Tried to connect an OBDLink MX + today. I thought it would be an easy connect given other comments, etc. But I'm getting this error on the app. Also while it was trying to connect on the dashboard I got a high voltage warning. Anyone have idea how to troubleshoot this ?

The high voltage warning happens with all of the OBD dongles as soon as you make a connection via software. It’s nothing to worry about. Unfortunately I can’t help with your other issue.
