I'm going to be brutally honest, but this is standard internet troll fare from Tesla. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the tech, the platform, and have a handful of friends that work at Tesla in various ranks of engineering or development, BUT the company itself has a history of shitposting and putting out vaguely true or blatantly false fodder against competitors when feeling threatened. A lot of this goes directly to Elon and the whims of the way he operates (from things I've heard from people generally in the know).

For the longest time they wasted money on purchasing taycant . com (which is parked right now) and redirected it to Tesla. They routinely put out shitposts regarding the Taycan. I'm not a fanboy of either platform, but it's just run of the mill internet trolling, and this 'whistle blower' crap reeks of the same garbage.

If you want to put your mind at ease, think of it like this. What's the worst case scenario? The cars don't seem to have any widespread fire related issues, since you can really only find one case of it in Florida, which seemed to be related to the EVSE install rather than the car itself. If there's no widespread fires, the worst a consumer would have to deal with is a battery that degrades far faster than normal. If that's the case though, we have 8 year warranties on the battery, and I'd be happy to exercise that warranty several years down the line before I trade it in for something new.

I get it, nobody wants their garage going up in flames, and the thought terrifies be for sure, but there's no clear evidence to suggest that the Taycan is any more likely to go up in flames than any other car on the market. If Porsche wants to buy everyone new batteries in a few years, well, good for them!

This report is better written than either the Teslerati or the E for Electric video as it limits it to low speed AC charging, and not all that other stuff. This was referred to early on in the original thread but didn't get much traction. It appears it would not affect most of us who use Level 2 charging or Fast DC charging other than a few special cases.

Most likely Porsche will have to say something as it would be a potential safety issue.

Sounds like Porsche are getting their lawyers involved to me....

“The allegations are currently being investigated. Please understand that we are currently unable to comment on this.”

I hope the various sources have got cast iron evidence and done their due diligence on the whistle-blower.

"A Porsche spokesman told BEST: ..." isn't my idea of a public statement, even if true.

What happened to the initial report of 60%?

Around 360 out of 36,000 Taycans vehicles delivered had a preventable vehicle, cable, or smoldering fire attributable to the problem, the report adds.

I mean if another Tesla-troll is accusing Porsche of being a home for reptiloids and working on COVID21, would it make sense to officially deny it by Porsche spokesman? I think there are some serious PR and social media rules not to comment on every tweet like Mr. Musk obviously tries to.

Sounds like they are preparing for a legal case...
The US lawyers will have a piece of advice for Porsche. NHTSA, be careful. In other words, we are likely to get to the bottom of this.
