I

I thought I was getting wireless charging and asked the dealership in Norwich about it when it went for the 2 day update. They politely informed me that it wasn’t available in the UK.
It is standard in the UK. 2019 cars had the hardware but there was compatibility issues with UK network.
My iPhone 8 (the oldest phone in this thread by a mile!) gets hot but doesn’t cut out.
I didn’t know the phone could do it and my OP didn’t know my first Taycan could do it but it worked on pick up day.
My 2020 4S and my 2022 GTS have wirelessly charged warmly and flawlessly.

It seems like this is primarily an issue that affects the iPhone 12. I’ve tried several Android devices and had no issues, but my iPhone 12 Pro will overheat and thermal throttle like crazy.

Anyone with an iPhone 13 or 14 having the same issue?
My iPhone 14 Pro Max overheats as well when using the wireless charging/Car Play/Waze, so buying a newer phone won't help.

Stating the obvious:
- screen needs to face away from you
- socket needs to face dashboard
- phone needs to be aligned to the rear of the cabin as much as possible

for XR this works fine, not even lukewarm.

I’ve tried the charger with multiple Android phones without issue, so I suspect there’s just an alignment issue specific to the current iPhone design (iPhone 12+). The Straight Pipes YouTube video also mentioned Porsches claim that Apple doesn’t properly implement the Qi standard which also contributes to the overheating issue.

I cannot use the wireless charging in the glove box as my iPhone12 Pro seems to cook to the point of turning off. Anyone else have this issue?

just use the usb port for charging .safer and much faster
