Oh boy...

I don't know but your initial "brake travel not detected" and "probably a sensor failure" makes far more sense then some HV charger going out.

Actually, their diagnostic was so strange, I joked about it. Guess I wasn't that far off. Let's hope it is a sensor that they can fix ASAP.

I got mine back today which had exactly the same issue as DLP.
My theory is the brake pedal travel is something to do with recalibration post 12v battery reset.
I was not given a service report by Porsche Bristol as they were 'so busy' last weekend but from the discussions with the service manager it sounds like mine needed a complete software reset and something to wake up the comms module, plus seemingly an issue with the PVTS vodafone tracker.
I dont think they actually replaced anything - and the car does now work...apart from a flash of a PSM error and no Innodrive on my way back just now - I'm hoping that might resolve itself!

That's good to hear Turboteeth.... If Porsche Aberdeen get in touch today, and they haven't resolved the matter I will let them know you had a similar problem.... Thank you

Latest is that a full hard reset of the cars security system is being carried out, on the advice of Porsche Germany. I will keep you posted. Porsche Aberdeen have been great by keeping me updated on a daily basis as to what is going on

The car is now ready to be delivered back to me. Just waiting to hear when. It was an issue with the Vehicle Tracking System, which had somehow managed to store some immobiliser faults. Centre console removed to access this which was then unplugged and disconnected overnight from the battery. Installed and reset. Once again, regular updates on the progress from Porsche Aberdeen which is good. Hopefully all sorted

Sadly I have had the same problem this morning, got into my Taycan 4S and it wouldn’t come out of park. The dash display wouldn’t get the past Taycan image with the red brake lights, the upper central console was blank put the lower console seemed to be working fine.

The AA came out, tried the V12 battery reset and jump but nothing. Third party recovery company came out after that to inspect, they think they are going to struggle to get it off my long drive even with an HIAB as there isn’t much access. They went away to look at option so who knows when the Cardiff dealership will get it.

I also had the LTE failure about 3 weeks ago, hasn’t worked since (was booked into the Cardiff Dealership at the end of the month to look at it.). Over the last 12 months of ownership I had yellow ‘electrical system fault’ a few times but it cleared itself when I next used the car. Perhaps a gradual failure of a part(s).

Had the car from new just over a year ago and done 6k miles in it and this is the second time it has been recovered to the dealership. First time was the heater failure over Xmas, I was without the car for about a month that time. It‘s my first and hopefully not last Porsche but they have certainty dented their image with me.

To rub salt into the wound, I was meant to be going to Silverstone a week today to have a second Porsche Experience (goodwill gesture from the heater failure). I was looking forward to a long road trip in the Taycan, looks like I be doing that now in a diesel Volvo XC 90 that Enterprise dropped off.

Even though I didn’t start writing this as a rant, rant over.

Really sorry to hear that and I’m hoping that this isn’t an issue that we start to see more of. The one and only consolation is that it should be fixed quickly as it’s exactly the same problem as mine so they know where to start. Fingers crossed it’s rectified soon

Looks like three of us with the same issue then - mine all sorted now but I’m nervous every time I get it that it isn’t going to start! Hopefully a one off

"E Box" might be the ECU, which is actually the Engine Control Unit, controls transmission, fueling, etc. ABS interfaces to it, also IMU, inertial movement sensors, etc etc. It is the central computer for the car, not the media or nav computer, but the actual car stuff. Maybe it's that? Which is a swap but reflash and retrain certain things after installing a new one.

LTE is Long Term Evolution, a moniker for the 4G rollout at the time.

FWIW.

What is an e box and also
When I was at dealer couple months ago, I asked Taycan service tech what was the E-box. The shop had a HV battery removed from a Taycan. He pointed out that E-box was the box projecting up on top of the HV battery. My understanding is that E-box is heart of the HV battery management system. See below for photo I found online and marked up.

Although some in here have reported their Taycans had the E-box replaced, a recent TSB/recall from Porsche has indicated that the E-box is integral to the HV battery. E-box and battery are single unit which should be replaced as a unit.

Thanks for that detailed explanation and photo. My ev journey began with a hybrid in 2005 then an i3, i4 now a Taycan. I had always thought that an electric motor as a drive train for a car would be a great idea, few moving parts, so reliable, cheap to build amazing instant torque etc. the reality seems to be that to make the battery and electric motor work efficiently is as complex as an ICE. Interesting to see if ev tech can become reliable and whether simplification will evolve to power cheaper transport - that does seem to be happening.
