You could also let them know you're expecting the 1st year's service to be complimentary....
But isn't the first scheduled service 2 years or 20000 miles ;) I'd ask for something concrete like some free Porsche T-Shirts or maybe a big discount on ceramic coating. It wouldn't surprise me if they offered something after making the OP wait this long.

They can do PPF and Ceramic inhouse... so maybe I ask for that? Was planning to take the car to OCDetailing because I'd prefer not to compromise on quality. But if the dealer can do a good job then I could be convinced...

I would, it never hurts to ask and since you are in/close to a big metropolitan area I would think they'd want to build goodwill since it is likely you have other choices when it comes to Porsche dealers.

However, dealer installs of PPF/Ceramic can vary widely, just like other installers, so I'd see if they have any examples to look at. I'm having my dealer do a full Ceramic coating once my car arrives. But it is a big dealer, at least for Arizona, with multiple (Audi, VW, Acura, Porsche) brands and they have their own customization shop that does PPF/Wraps/Ceramic Coatings/etc.

It's a Bay Area dealer. Many competitors. This is a large dealer with other brands. It's just that after this mishap I don't have a lot of confidence in the other service items. Anyways, we'll see.

Interestingly enough the issue is that my headlights are white and Germany keeps sending blue ones. I asked maybe we can just do the blue ones as a free upgrade... that's potentially on the table :)

If possible, have your dealer install the blue headlights and call it a day. That's the least they can do for your hassle.

I just saw your message now. I'll check on the part tomorrow. They haven't listed what part numbers they've ordered for your car, so I can't tell if they did order the correct ones or not. I'll check where the passenger headlight is coming from.

Hi all--this Porsche buying experience has rapidly become something of a joke. Timeline:
May 2021: Order Taycan with refundable deposit.
Usual story, many delays. Actually not a problem.
December 2021: Delivered to dealer, apparently "ready for pickup." I couldn't pick up because I was out of town but got back in January so picked a date then.
In meanwhile arranged for parking, sold car, took care of all the things.
January 2022: Turns out headlight doesn't work, dealer needs to replace part. Couldn't have picked up car even if I wanted to. Dealer has ordered part three times in a row and apparently Porsche in Germany keeps sending the wrong part. In fact the latest delivery, which took three weeks because it went through Fedex and through Memphis which had comically bad delays (1) because of customs and (2) because of weather.
February 2022: We are now well into February, and dealer basically has to order the part a 4th time (of course this time hoping the right part is delivered... what if this happens again??)

I'm spending money on a spot I don't need, and I don't have a car. Not really sure what to do, what to ask for. Or how my dealer can compensate me for this. They've already given me some credit for Porsche goodies, but I'm afraid that doesn't cut it anymore.

Help guys! What should I ask for? How should I escalate?
Porsche North America has a loyalty voucher program for dissatisfied customers. Email them and state the problem and demand that you be compensated. Their first offer to you will be $150. Reject the offer and demand $500- $1000. i received $500 for software problems. Your issues warrant $1000 for loss of use of the car

May I ask what dealership in Bay Area are you dealing with?

This is really sad to hear about this saga with a freaking headlight. For sure a swap or replacement could have been made by now.

Even sadder I want this car so bad but decided to put the purchase off for a MY 23 order to see if this supply chain, quality and scheduling crap calms down/ gets fixed. I have 2 other friends who put off buying for same reason.

When you add the limited number of charging stations and PCM issues which for me go back to my panamera purchase, I am personally not ready for another back and forth parade to the dealer .

Good luck with your situation and resolution soon. You are almost 1 year to the order anniversary date...good god!

Well so I had a nice long discussion with the dealer.

My headlights are white matrix. They keep ordering the part from Germany but Germany keeps sending the blue ones.

We are beginning to suspect this is due to a part shortage, not a moron on the other end who can’t read instructions.

so we are going to see if we can just put in both blue headlights, which would basically be a $1k ish or so option for free. I’m fine with that. Altho frankly the reason I didn’t spring for that option was I could barely perceive the difference.

biggest worry on the tech side is that there might be a software incompatibility or something preventing the use of blue headlights on this particular config. But based on a very laypersons understanding… I don’t think there will be a problem?

The blue headlight is just a blue hue on the housing of the DRLs, there's no physical difference in the electrical or software. It's kind of over-rated. I got them, it's kinda meh to tell you the truth. I ordered them thinking it might be actually blue-ish LEDs or something to that effect. Was thinking more like the Laser BMWs or RangeRover ones with a blue-hue. But it's really just a plastic housing.

Your need to speak to corporate as its not a dealer problem. When Germany keep sending the wrong parts its not their fault but reflects badly on them. It will get sorted out pretty fast and to be honest if they are using FedEx they can ship something in 2 days from Germany priority and its not that much more expensive. A headlight will fit into a 12x12x12 and cost around $60 for priority and $40 Economy that takes 5 biz days. Start asking questions - first I would want tracking numbers to see where the thing really is. Most International goes through Memphis.
