Still doesn't seem quite real. I never once in my life thought that I would EVER be in a position to buy a Porsche, let alone an electric performance wagon version of one!!! I'm sure lots of y'all can relate.

I'm excited to start posting updates once things start moving. I put the order in with my dealer on Friday, I'm #1 at my local dealer for an allocation in June, with August - September delivery.

It doesn't quite feel real yet, but I'm sure it's going to start hitting me in full-force soon! I've loved reading posts on this forum, which went a long way to dispel a lot of my concerns and pushed me over the edge. Thank you everyone!

I see you exercised much restraint with your options lol no premium package?

Yeah... I wanted to keep it fairly basic. More options, more to break IMHO. We're plan on starting a family soon, and this will likely be my last chance to make such an ill-advised financial decision so need to keep this vehicle for awhile.

Fair enough. I'm in a similar situation but I decided if I'm going to splurge then I'm going to splurge (within reason). I was able to keep my options list below 19k so I'm happy about that. Carbon ceramics will have to wait until next time unfortunately.

I appreciate the box ticking approach you have. Though, give some thought to the power folding mirrors. I thought it was standard.. until I found out it was not.

I like the Carmine red. The only thing I would add would be black door handles just to break up all the red from the side view.

Enjoy! I am in the same boat just received a CT4 a couple of months ago. Never thought I would own a Porsche especially at the price I paid but I am so happy I went for it!

you’re going to want to add the 400V/150kW charging option which you will appreciate as the Tesla Supercharger network eventually becomes open to non-tesla’s (already happening in Europe) - it’s an “affordable” option and will allow the car to charge faster at 400V charging stations (like Tesla Superchargers).

you can “drop” the Lane Change assist - it’s not what you think it is - it’s JUST the lights indicating car in blind spot - useful yes no question - but you can save $950 - I’d also consider dropping noise insulating glass for $1100 - Taycan is already a quiet car…

I’d swap those two options for Adaptive cruise control which you _CAN_ use in stop/go traffic in Boston and on the freeway - much much more functional than glass & LCA…

for a base build it’s pretty good - I’d make the swaps I’ve noted - but I”m a huge fan of ACC

I think you’ll value that option more than LCA and the Glass

ACC
400V/150 kW charging (Tesla supercharger will use this eventually when it comes to US)

drop
LCA
Glass

both are nice features but not strictly necessary

PCCB’s are un-necessary on the Taycan and you can’t “tap” their superpower - massive thermal capacity…you have to be able to run the vehicle long/hard to get beyond the thermal capacity of steel/PCSB’s - and the Taycan simply does not have the battery capacity (power or thermals) to reach that point - and in street driving - simply never…period…full stop.

90% of braking is handled by regen (less brake dust already)
don’t need the extra thermal capacity of PCCB”s if you can’t run the car hard for more than 20 or 30 min - which you can’t with the taycan - and by hard I mean on/off the brakes from high speed like 4 or 5 times per-minute (like on a track)…

at _MOST_ I’d go with PCSB’s form Prosche - lower brake dust + 90% regen = PCCB’s level’s of no brake dust on wheels and much much much lower cost and no real/tangeble loss of braking performance.

Oh man, I am down with the red though for sure! More the better IMHO hehe.

What's your favorite thing about your CT4?

Interesting insights here.

Noise Insulating Glass - How do the noise levels compare with Model 3 w/ 19" tires? I wasn't happy with the noise levels with that vehicle, and I figured with the 21s that are spec'd, it'd be fairly loud, esp on concrete. I'd be happy with dropping that option if that is not the case.

LCA - I've tended to shy away from Autopilot-like systems since my Model 3 almost killed me on the 405 in LA twice by slamming the brakes and getting rear-ended twice while going under an overpass. In traffic, I agree it's awesome in stop and go, and I was on the fence due to traffic here, but not sure I'd feel comfortable using it. Maybe I'll get to test drive one sometime before delivery and it'll change my mind.

400V Option - So, are the Superchargers really the only ones here in the US that would benefit from this option? I feel like I would only use 800V at EA stations, and most others are <150 correct? With all the reports regarding issues with software and charging, adding another layer to the charging system didn't seem wise. What's been your experience?

I owned 5 Teslas since 2013 (never more than 2 at once) including a 2018 Model 3 Performance

Taycan is next level quiet with/with-out the Noise insulating glass - especially if you‘re benchmark is a Model 3 - if you’re trying to shave money form the build this is an EASY $1000 - and the ACC is _NOT_ autopilot or lane keeping - it’s simply cruise control that won’t run into the car in front of it and matches traffic speed - it’s a must have IMHO…
  • LCA = blind spot lights in the side mirrors - nothing more, nothing less - NO ACTIVE driving assistance - you can skip it (again to save money)
  • ALK - Active Lane Keeping is the porsche feature to “steer” the car and keep it “in the lane” - it is no where near as good as Tesla Autopilot and often wants to drive me off the road - you can skip it
  • ACC - Adaptive Cruise control - match traffic speed, and don’t hit the car in front of you in stop and go traffic, pretty solid - few if any problems and common feature on modern vehicles from Toyota Corolla’s on up…it’s great in stop and go traffic and highway driving cause it matches speed to the car in front of you and takes some load off you as the drive to constantly adjust speed to keep your gap…
  • Porsche innodrive - Porsche’s sad sad sad awful attempt at some kinda of smart speed adjustments for road conditions - my experience is that it mostly likes to change speed for no reason what so ever when it thinks there is a speed limit zone change so that the car behind you almost runs into your bumper when your vehicle slows down for no apparently reason - I have it but have it disabled on my 2020 Taycan and I have it set to “ACC” mode (see above) - you can skip Innodrive and live with just ACC.
as far as the 400V/150 kW charging - better to have it and never use it, than not have it and be stuck somewhere charging for extra 90 minutes in the dead of night when you could’ve been done 3x faster - 50 kW max charge rate is really really slow and takes forever when you’re staring at it - trust me I’ve owned a Bolt and it’s max rate was 50 kW - never again - $460 150kW charging option - sign me up - and it will be better once superchargers are open - it’s a $460 option - once of the cheapest on Porsche’s options list for the Taycan - for me it’s easy - I never want to take longer to charge than necessary
