Don't think that's the case - no one has said that, have they?

100% agree that it's disappointing but in reality once adjusted how often would it be adjusted thereafter ,(manually)?
Doesn't the Taycan have the ability for the steering column to get out of the way when parked (sometimes called easy entry), and back to set position based on the driver profile? Even without easy entry, doesn't the Taycan have driver profiles? Or is the compensation a free Taycan for each driver profile, so you never have to switch profiles? ;)

I think everyone needs a reality check. This is not Porsche specific as all manufacturers are having issues. I was wanting to purchase a Cadillac Escalade (GMC the same)and was told that regardless of the options that I built the car with, it would arrive with what was available. That was also a $125k vehicle and wasn’t even being offered with a steering lock! Lincoln Would not allow me to order the Navigator with rear entertainment (deal breaker for my wife).

I’m not saying it is not a disappointment to not be able to get all of the options we want, but that it is pretty well happening throughout the industry right now. In the end, you have to make a decision on whether the vehicle is still a vehicle you want without the options that aren’t available. I’ve still got my minivan in the garage instead of a newer huge SUV for instance. YMMV.
You are correct on having to make a decision, however what if you made the decision to take delivery based on Porsche telling you the retrofit will happen, are you now entitled to reverse the entire transaction (full refund for the car, costs of buying your trade-in back)? If you finance a Porsche, you agree to pay a certain monthly payment. If you send them notice due to financial issues "beyond your control" you will not pay them the full amount you agreed, what do you think they would do? Both are simple breaking of a contract, no?

Ha ha.

It's all part of the same component - electric adjustment and works in conjunction with the Comfort Pack.

Depending on driving position the "get out of the way for ingress / egress may not be that great.

I was bemused when I saw that capability.
I have never been so fat I couldn’t get into or out of my car without the steering wheel moving. ?

Likewise I have never been too large to get in/out of a car! However the Taycan is not the easiest car to get out of, particularly in a narrow space where you can’t fully open the door. Having the steering wheel move up, even by a small amount does help.
As mentioned above, part of the 14/18 way seat package (~£1200-1400)so £300 compensation is probably about right

That aspect of comfort access isn't particularly well implemented anyways. My preferred way to exit the car is to put car into park and then open the door to exit the vehicle and either tap on the "dimple" on the door handle or press the lock button on the key.

When used this way, the comfort access doesn't move the steering wheel. The only way it does this is if you exit with these steps:
  • Put car into park
  • Turn off the car by holding down the on/off button for 2 or 3 seconds (who could be bothered?)
  • Open the door <== now wheel will move up
  • yada yada

So do you not turn your car off? Does it turn off when you lock it? I thought it stayed on if you did this, but I haven’t tried it

It turns off when it locks. Headlights might stay on for 30 secs ("see you home") depending on settings in the PCM.

It will do and in any other circumstance and the car not moving it powers down in 30 mins.

Don't forget the "driver's seat will retract also and in so doing can squash rear occupant feature" (can be disabled but I'm sure it's there to amuse).

Correct. You can hit park and get out and just hit lock and the car shuts down.

I tend to hit the power button for the 2-3 seconds so that I can get the option on the PCM to turn off the interior monitoring as I have the alarm issue (have not taken in for the fix). So my seat always moves back to give me easier exit. But without the electric steering, it does not move. My Mother's Cadillac has that feature. Lifts and pulls the steering wheel up and back to the front of the car and pushes the seat back. When you get in the car and start, the seat and steering go back to your set position.

It'd do so soooooo slowly you'd have to be the aforementioned fat knacker sat in the back not to be able to escape it :D

(Assuming it's on mine when I get it, I'll be disabling it).

I understand that they are offering to make some sort of remuneration? I’m not in a position to have seen any of the purchase contracts or know what the verbiage that is included regarding the retrofit. If anyone wants to pursue legal action for breech of contract, it is absolutely their right. If I was in a position in which I felt wronged enough to consider such action, I’d also think about the cost of my legal pursuit, the time I’d need to invest, and also the reality that I may or may not end up satisfied with any ruling. I am all about personal freedoms. Life is all about decisions and consequences.

I bet the dealers would be pleased.......

Someone rejects a car because it is missing the electronic adjustable steering (due to chip shortage). And won't accept a modest compensation payment in lieu.

Dealer takes the car back at cost, put a huge mark up on and sell to someone who is being told the wait list for a new Taycan is v e r y l o n g.

Original owner can now put his name down for a new car from another brand - with associated chip shortages, long lead times and potential large price increases???
