I built and ordered my gorgeous Taycan in aprox Sept 2021 and received it Mid Jan 2022. Since then I’ve had issues with the alarm randomly setting itself off sometimes for hours at a time when it’s in the garage or driveway with nothing around it. Even shutting off the interior alarm, not setting the alarm or leaving the car unlocked doesn’t solve it, the alarm still sets itself off. The dealership said it needed some kind of new part that should fix it. I’ve had issue with the battery never showing over 200 miles of range even at 100% charge even before the car learned my driving patterns. On 2 separate trips to California the navigation has issues. The navigation and my entire console froze up and I couldn’t use it or see where I was at on the map. I also lost the ability to change drive modes. The selections were grayed out and if I pressed “range” for example, a message popped up to “please start vehicle” but I was already going 85/90 mph so that’s a little scary to see as if the car doesn’t know it’s in motion. The main issue I can’t look past happened last Tuesday. I was at a red light at a very busy intersection and I took off at the green light and my car completely stalled in the middle of the intersection! I had no idea electric vehicles could even stall! It came to an abrupt stop and did a weird jerking/rocking back n forth motion and I noticed the car had put itself into neutral. Why would a car stop in neutral rather than continue forward momentum? I had the car towed to the dealership the next morning. Service said they drove it a bunch and can’t duplicate the issue and don’t see any system errors related to the stalling so I need to just come get the car. I think that’s absolutely insane and there is zero chance I’m driving that car again not knowing why that happened or if it will happen again and next time cause an accident.
I started looking looking around online afyer

Alarm.
Known bug/problem. as a workaround, You should:
a. Unselect interior senzor before you leave the car
b. Double lock it.
Permanent solution: internal senzor replacement.
(Been there for more than 6 months, done that few weeks ago.)

Neutral position.
Some members reported that problem.
Use search.

good luck!

Hey Thank you. Yes I did all those suggestions you made and basically the dealership said exactly what you mentioned and have replaced the sensor. I did notice others mentioning the neutral/park issue but not in the 2022 year. I’m very curious to know if anyone figured out what was causing the problem or if it’s an ongoing issue that’s nobody has figured out yet.

my MY22 went into park while it was rolling to a stop at a stop sign, but it's a well documented issue on here, so I already know about. I just quickly and calmly shifted it D and on my way. No need to panic.

I think you should be aware that some Taycan's have significant issues still. some of the vehicles exhibit surprising problems or behave in unexpected ways I've never experienced in any of my previous vehicles.

I eventually sold it as even sorting the issues became a constant worry in my mind.

Wow. I’m really sorry to hear that and thank you for sharing. Can I ask what year your car was?

I‘ve have had a couple of issues with my 22 model 4sCT, one is mentioned (in drive mode, then dropping into netrual) at set off at traffic lights..

most alarming issue I’ve had twice now is,, travelling at 70mph ish on the motorway, a red circle on the display stating ‘steering error please take control’….?.?
I wasnt using any driving aids ALC and had both hands on the wheel… it does make you think WTF..

2020. So I suffered the disastrous WMA 5/7 update that killed the car rolling on the highway. There were also numerous other small and large issues that get sorted over time (Range mode slamming on the breaks when nav was re-calculated, phantom breaking, phantom collision warning breaking, break failure in wet conditions etc). Many of these were solved to some degree or another, phantom breaking was not. But each new update kept introducing new issues to the point where I just didn't want to deal with it anymore.

When I took it to the dealer to be sold there were 4 open recall campaigns to be done on top of all that.

what happened to you is unfortunately common. it seems to clear in a moment but it is very disconcerting when it happens.
what is even more disconcerting is how porsche is not acknowledging that there is a problem. they have done nothing to investigate or correct this problem. I have reported it to NHTSA, and others should do the same.

Has this been introduced retroactively as an issue? or it just a new model issue?

Oh my god! Holy crap that is so scary I’m glad you did not get into an accident. This makes me super angry now realizing that Porsche absolutely must know about this stuff and they are playing dumb.

I also have a 22 4S and although I have not experienced anything as terrifying as what you describe, the other day I was driving quite aggressively (a lot of accelerating and braking) all of a sudden the brake pedal felt really odd... I had to press MUCH HARDER than usual to slow the car down on the highway. It 100% gave me a momentary fright.

I'm sure it had to do with the blending of the regen and friction braking but I have not experienced that issue again.

Have you had the drive module recall update? I had that done a few weeks ago and I wonder if it created more problems than solved.

Crap! I had no idea there was a drive module update. Maybe that’s why I couldn’t switch drive modes?

this will happen again. It’s a recall issue you a have to tell your dealer you are experiencing very soft breaking. One of the 10s of recalls you’ll need to stay up to date including the one’s Porsche chooses not to actively push out to drivers.

I just checked, there are currently no active recalls on my vehicle
