I really don't understand Porsche. They promote "over the air updates" to sell the Taycan, yet in 14 months of ownership I have had to take the car to the dealer 3 times to be manually updated by them.

Now, they contact their customers to prepare us for some kind of Over-the-Air "update" they don't explain, and provide no way for us to confirm whether the update they prepared us for was successful.

... and still no PCM update for Taycans... I have PCM version 3.1x while the latest for new cars is 6.0. What's up?

These people still don't understand software, or marketing. How much time and trouble do you think your customers have to fool around with your technical glitches?

Love the physical vehicle, so disappointed in the software and the management.

I presume people from Porsche monitor this forum, so how about an authoritative response?

When are we going to see over the air PCM updates?

I couldn’t agree more. And while they’re at it, have Porsche enable the car’s wifi so the Taycan can log into a customer‘s home wifi network to make those updates, no matter the size, more efficient. It is truly frustrating that Porsche has yet to deliver on this promise.

PCM 3.1 was 8 years ago. You have PCM 6, just the early poop version. Other than that I agree.

We do get OTA PCM updates.

Those updates that come in, incrementing the counter in the lower left? Those are OTA PCM.

I've seen them for almost all the components of the PCM over time and I've seen bugs get fixed (the calendar component for example.)

Now, the _car electronics_ updates...the ones that require a dealer visit...yeah, those are frustrating.

According to Porsche Technical Services, unless the car was specced for Russia, it does not have the necessary hardware to join a WiFi network.
