I could be wrong, but Android Auto and Carplay apps have color when a phone is connected. I never use those apps

Many thanks Jasper, I'll check that out & report what I find (if it's solid :) )

The sales guy promised he'll investigate up to a conclusion - he's the one who showed me in the 1st place it was possible to get some updates (at least Android) on a march 2020 Turbo, while it would not make his life easier, so at least he's honest.
He said he'll check with their tech guys what's doable with the VIN.

Now that I brought them a number of Porsche documents saying it's doable, I hope there isn't a form of hardware incompatibility that would explain why they didn't do it yet.
If they pull up that kind of answer, I will obviously ask details & keep investigating.

But i also want to drive it, damn...lol
I'll set my requirement to 3882 and Android Auto wireless, that's sufficient

Hi guys,
Just wondering if there is a way with my VIN chassis number to be sure whether the car is a J1, J1.1 or J1.2 ? and then, once this is established, is there a maximum version of PCM that each Jxx version can reach and can't go beyond ?
The more I read, the more I'm not sure how to interprete all this.

Show us the headlights and we know if you have j1.1 or j1.2. 38xx is j1.1 and j1.2 is in 4xxx. Looking at the age yours is def. A j1.1. J1.2 is from 2024 and later.

software version is not too important. It is important to know why yours did not get all the free (paid by Porsche) updates. Which also could mean you did not get recalls. Thats the only reason to check. You'll not get any more functions. (Apart from the release withn Android auto in 2023)

Merci Jasper, all the pictures I have I shared on the other thread you replied (Wetransfer link).
Ok so it's a J1.1, which means latest SW in PCM will be 3885 (if I recall your previous answer), getting Android Auto is a "++" for me always good to have.
So when I'll check the car again, I'll take more pictures, and if I see 3885 (or close) on the PCM then I can be sure they did all the possible updates, is that correct ?

Yep! I can't open the rar on iphone. Can you share a photo here? Also good for other readers with the same question. Photo doesn't need to be big. It should be an easy spot to see the acc option and generation of taycan

Great thanks, so I'll be looking out for 3885 :)
Other than that I love the car, instantly felt great when I drove it, looks great, the only thing that bugged me was no android auto, and not having maybe ACC/InnoDrive, but if I can buy it as FoD afterwards then it's not an issue anymore, and I love its look as well.

Pictures : yes sure, I'm not sure which bumper you mean (front or rear) so I'm putting all pictures I have right now

You have a 1.1 WITHOUT Acc. I don't see the Acc dome in the area beneath the license plate. Stunning car, congrats!

Many thanks Jasper, and "shit" at the same right ? lol
No ACC = no InnoDrive = no ALK = no assistance whatsoever.

But at the same time : its design stands out, I got the "wow" effect right away, it's sold by Porsche directly including 3 Years Porsche Approved, 37000km, for 74K€.
In France I haven't found anything better, except only 1 private person who was selling his Turbo with lots of options (except passenger screen, Burmeister & few others I don't care about anyway), but with 86000km for 64K€ - lowest I ever saw with a level of confidence that the guy is serious.

So I'm thinking : wtf with driving assistance, it's a Porsche ... lol

The only thing that could be lowering the value when I sell it in 1 or 2Y (I'm doing 10000km per year) is if it's a J1.1, then even with the updates up to 3885, it cannot have the MY21 parameters that extend the range by ~10%, correct ?
I mean by that this famous "recall" that followed this Porsche announcement :
https://newsroom.porsche.com/fr/ppd...ore-range-more-connectivity-more-colours.html

Or if it's possible to "update" even my J1.1, how will I know if it was done by them?

It is a drivers car, dont sweat it. The update from back then introduced a better range mode. But then again, it is a drivers car - so who uses range mode anyways. If range and ACC was that important we would have bought a KIA right? You'll love it, no worries.

Just to conclude, do you know if there is there a way to know for sure whether this recall / update was carried out or not ?

Coloured icons is the obvious one. Do you have sale pictures of the inside? Maybe we can spot the update on the screens already and you can relax
I have only this one right now, not sure if it's sufficient to be sure
