Wait what? You don't have 6.0? That was released in summer 22. Just to make sure, you don't have colored icons in PCM?
Alas no, i'm getting the car (2nd hand from Porsche Center) on 10th Dec, when I drove it there was only Apple Car Play (no Android Auto), and the icons are grey indeed if I remember correctly.

So I've built a "case" proving it's technically possible to do it, and pushing them to actually make it happen.
Now surfing on this forum I also understood that PCM 6.0 is purely software update, there is no different hardware between MY20/21/22, so it's definitely possible to do it.
I'll bug them until they do it, hopefully.

I'm so suprised that Taycans without "uPdate" (thats how the big update was called). are still around. I wonder if they did all recalls and campaigns. Be sure to check that and get the answer in writing

Would not buy the car.

Sounds like it sat on the parking lot of the dealer for the better part of the last 4 years, no recalls done, no update, no maitenance, no service.

You are asking for problems if you buy a car like that.

Taycans has enough problems as is, why increase the list?

Lots of other french owners here, all up-to-date. I get that you can't wait for december the 10th. But do not rush, do not purchase without getting ALL updates. You are not lucky to get these updates, it was a campaign released almost 3,5 years ago. Big big big red flag yours did not get the update

Hey Jasper, thanks for caring, by any chance do you know which version ## exactly I should be looking up when I check in the car ?
1st step for me is to get the Android Auto icon
2nd step is to see coloured icons, which will mean, if I understood correctly that the PCM is in 6.0.xxxx.
I'm also unsure of the full versionning system, for example when people refer to software cluster 35 giving you Android auto by cable, 37 giving it wireless. Is it like 6.xx.xx37 for example ? or something else ?

Thanks also for this comment, it's got only 37000km and looks brand new, 2 previous owners, the sales guy from Porsche showed me (I took a good look) they spent ~4K€ internally to make it look perfectly new again, which I confirm also when I drove it (much better than 2 other I drove a few days earlier).
He said they bought it back ~1Y ago, and they retrofitted it & started the selling process in October, which means it must have sat in their parking lot for a while, with only a few hundreds of kilometers.
He didn't hide it, and it appears to me they did a good job from mechanical / esthetical point of view, but they're not very "aware" of the technological aspects, I'm guessing their typical customer is 60Y+ who doesn't care about anything else but having Apple Carplay.

Also, they're selling it with 3 years of Porsche Approved (it's written in the purchase order I signed) & it belongs 100% to Porsche.

So in any case wouldn't they be compelled by the warranty to update it ?

I have signed the purchase order, and paid only 800€ account, which makes the contract binding. Now I'm waiting to see how they will react.
I have shared with my sales guys all the Porsche documents I found here mostly (and a few others) that clearly establish that even a MY20 hardware can be upgraded to the v6.0 xxx PCM software.
And the recall campaigns back in 2022-2023 were free, right ?
So, I will make clear to them that I won't pay the full price until they have done the updates, and see how they react.
Worst case I lost 800€ (although I have a good lawyer, time and money, just in case).

3885 is the latest, 3882 is also acceptable. So 38 is the version to look for

Thanks Jasper, can you please tell me (if it's not too much trouble) the exact full version you read on your PCM screen, is it e.g. 6.xx.3885 ?
And I see you have a 4S MY23, so it means you have also the Android Auto icon, but are they all grey ? or in color ?
Sorry for all the questions, it's just so I can add one more documented fact to the Porsche guys.

many thanks Jasper, may I ask if you have a picture of how the "icons" look like on your main screen too please ? (where the Apple carplay & Android auto icons sit)
GUI 3 points to grey icons, but I could have gotten that wrong.
Sorry to bug you all :-/

I could be wrong, but Android Auto and Carplay apps have color when a phone is connected. I never use those apps
