At end of October when we leave our home in NC, my Taycan will stay in the garage. I'm wondering if I should leave it plugged in or not. I only charge it to 85%. I could (try, not sure I'll do it correctly) to set a profile that tells it to charge when it hits 25%. Or is that unnecessary?

The Audi etron will run down the 12V battery if the charging plug is left into the car without charging the battery for long lengths of time. This seems to be BC some electronics stay alive when the charger plug is connected to the car. Not sure if this the case with Taycan but would be wise to check this out.

There has been some advice from Porsche about this. Search the forum here or ask your dealer.

If you look at the Good yo Know app (and likely your manual as well), Porsche seem to advice yo connect a special Lithium trickle charger yo the 12 volt battery. The main battery seem to have very little drain, but leaving it plugged in at say 50% charge level, is probably advised.

leaving the car plugged in at a SOC between 50% and 80% would not cause any sort of harm to the battery. IMHO that is what I would do.

I read about that 12v trickle charger and will call the dealership for it.

So is the consensus that the main batteries won’t deplete below say 20% if I start them with a charge say between 50%-80% and leave for 6 months?

I do not know about a consensus however there appears to be little vampire loss associated with the taycan.

Only 1% SoC of vampire loss per month if you leave the internal monitoring off, per my own (repeated) experience. I have not tried six months yet, but if I am away for a couple of months, I just charge to 80% and leave the car unplugged.

and would you put the 12v battery on a special LiON battery charger?

Car currently at the shop for extended period with mods - I had not turned internal monitoring off (prob a mistake and a good suggestion above!), but also forgot to take my SD card out of my installed FitcamX dashcam - so both presumably drawing some power semi-continuously in the shop right now. That said I have lost only ca. 7% of charge (88% to 81%) over the last 3.5 weeks. So even with these power 'draws' being semi-active daily, if I left it over 6 months, presuming a linear drawdown, I'd likely not exceed 42% of charge loss.

Realistically I suspect my car would lose max. 0.5-0.7 of this predicted amount with those two monitoring systems turned off but would need to test that to confirm. I've not experienced a low of 1% drawdown over a month but I do not have enough personal data to validate as yet (3 instances all saw 3%+change in SoC) which is curious as the first 2 predated the dash cam install but indeed for both times the interior monitoring was on - but these 1st two parked periods were less than 2 weeks.

I suspect my main concern for leaving the car 6 months is load on the tires and ensuring air pressure high enough and/or jacking the car to avoid deformation/flat spots - GTK app has info on that.

my main concern is this lovely vehicle is not being driven for 6 months!! Do you have a friend you can lend it to so she gets to fulfil her destiny?!

I have not done that yet myself, but I am not the greatest expert on 12V batteries and would defer to other forum members for that. Come to think of it, another precaution you might consider is putting your tires on high enough pressure (40-plus) to create minimal surface area with the garage floor and thus avoid flat spots.

Sorry for being redundant, I just saw that @ciaranob already mentioned tire pressure.

I used to leave my SL 550 in the garage for six months at a time. In addition to putting the batteries on a trickle charger, I increased the tire pressure by 5 pounds. Never had any problems

How do you turn off internal monitoring on the Taycan?
