Front tire wear

I washed my car in a moving car wash "convoy belts" so got some clean scratches around the rims on the inside, but nothing even close to the tires. They are just trying to avoid to pay anything. The 4 wheels alignments needs 4 new tires so that's around 2500 dollar and the alignment need to take of the front bumper to get it done. So all in all around 7000 dollar.

That seems a total p1ss take. Why does bumper need to come off for wheel alignment? Is it an electric car thing?

Cheaper to just let the tires wear a bit quicker than they should!

I know. I'm waiting for them to send me their statement in written, so I can go further with it. Stuff like this, makes me never want to buy a car from them again.

At the least, you should go and buy the new tyres from your local shop rather than from the dealer! Maybe offer to buy the consumable (I.e. tyre) and they fix the cause of the problem under warranty.

I've already ordered some new tires, and not from Porsche. I'm so lucky that my family owns a wheel/tire company. So the price will be a lot better, but I'm afraid the new ones will have the same problem.

Well if that is the case, I am sure they also can do or work together with a shop that can do wheel alignment. There is a thread on here by somebody in London who did a wheel alignment. Not sure if he stated the cost, but he said they had yo take off a fair number of covers underneath the car. Nothing about the front bumper though.

I just checked here for my w1 inch rear tyres and they are about 350 Euros each.

That Porsche dealer is taking you for a country ride if that is their price.

Unless they consider that you need to replace all the wheels as well as the tyres?

That price was just for 4 new tires and wheel alignment. I guess they are use to people just accept what every price they get.

my fronts are far more worn than my rears at 14k miles probably will replace at the end of the summer

Just bumping this thread.....

Took my RWD in for service today and it needs 2 rears (20" / Michelin PS4 / 16k miles).

I knew that they were due a change soon, but interesting that the inside shoulders are far more worn than the rest of the tyres.
They said this is quite common on Taycans.

Anyway, new rears ordered.
Fronts have a few more miles to go.

I'm the opposite. At 17,000 miles my rear tires are about due for replacement. I could probably get another 2,000+ miles but it's just not worth risking hydroplaning. Front tires still have 6/32". Even wear front and back. Mostly highway driving. I'm replacing only the rear tires with the exact same model (Pirelli Cinturato P7 Blue). Just do 2 if you are going to match what is on the car now.

Interesting. I am at almost 32K miles. The front tires are ready but I have ~ 6/32 in the back…perhaps slightly more. The OCD side of me wants to do a full set but that seems so wasteful. First world problems.

32,000 miles? You have to have all season tires on your car. The front tires on my car are in decent shape but will probably not make it to 22,000 (another 5k?). Part of the front vs rear tire wear could be ST vs sedan but I don't think the ST chassis setup differs from the sedan much at all, if at all. There are plenty of threads on the forum that talk of different wear patterns. Safe to say YMMV.

And the OCD is universal. I stared at my front tires for quite a while before I had to admit to myself that they were fine, and would be fine. Still, the call of 4 tires is strong.
