Taycan 4S, replaced my 911 ;-)

Apologies, I’ve been offline for over a month as depressing to be on the forum when my car was being repaired.

anyway, not sure if this is new news but major software announcement on July 13th and it will apply to 2020 vehicles onwards

what’s coming…..

Porsche Communication Management (PCM)
For Porsche Communication Management, the software update includes new functions as well as various functional improvements. They include the following updates:
- Colourful tile design on the home screen

- Optimisation of the search for charging stations in the Finder: Charging station can be filtered and selected according to charging capacity

- Wireless utilisation of Android Auto® app

- Simplification of voice control

- Tethering: Sharing the WLAN connection integrated in the vehicle with other WLAN-capable devices, only in conjunction with a chargeable data package.

- Due to technical reasons, the AM radio function is no longer offered (country-dependent offer)

Thermal management
Better conditioning of the battery, especially at low outside temperatures, means that your Taycan can be fast-charged quicker than before and the range is noticeably optimised.

Drive*
You are the owner of an all-wheel drive Taycan: The drive force distribution on the front and rear axle as well as the disconnection of the drive of the front axle have been improved. In combination, this leads to an increase in efficiency and further optimisation of reach. The drive distribution display is moved from the instrument cluster to the central display for improved viewing.

Enablement of functions after vehicle purchase (Function on Demand)
Activation of your vehicle's keyless opening function (KESSY) as well as opening the rear lid with a foot movement can now be purchased at a later date.
* The innovations depend on the vehicle equipment and the model year

Thanks for the update. Is the drive distribution available on all model years? I don’t see that option at all on my MY22. Am I missing something?

Is this to be announced July 13, or available that date?
I'd say available from that date. I'm booked in with my OPC on the 22 July for the update.

I was booking the car in for the 22kw update and they advised me (on 02 July) they would do the PCM update at the same time. They stated they had to do the PCM update at the Centre, although that would then allow for additional OTA updates.

I think others have mentioned they have a PCM update scheduled for next week.

I have a MY22 (March). This feature isn't available at all on my CT4S, thought it was (in left hand tube) of the car i used at porsche experience. I wonder if i will now get it.[/QUOTE]

This is the update to the latest PCM version. My car was delivered in April and had the colored icons and other functions mentioned in the memo.

Judging all report on this forum on PCM functionality . If after the update PCM is as fluent as mine now I would advice everyone to do the update.

Sounds like the MY22 will be receiving the display screen.

Could this upcoming software update have anything to do with U.S. NHTSA ANA6 recall? Curious what people are thinking here as I was expecting hardware replacements for ANA6; realizing we do not know what we do not know at this point.

It's the same, it's just a software update that the dealer will need to apply.

From what I have read on this forum, there is nothing which requires a hardware update. All of the PCM updates seem to be software related.
That said, it seems that many owners have been experiencing issues with connectivity to their phones resulting in all sorts of problems (stuck volume indicator, loss of music, errors like 'no device connected', etc.). It would be interesting to find out if these connectivity issues are resolved with a software update.
My PCM connectivity issues went away after I brought my car in for the WNA5 update. But others are still having issues with the PCM. So lets hope this 'July 2022' update will get everyone up and running with a reliable PCM.

Does anybody know if keyless opening function requires specific hardware ?
I don't have this but would be interested to get this on demand.
