I am sure most if not all of you in the US anyway received an email from PNA saying to make an appointment to get the new PCM update installed. So last week I made an appointment at my local dealer (Cherry Hill NJ). My appointment was for today July 20th at 8am. Between last week and yesterday I received at least 4 to 5 emails from the dealer reminding me of my appointment. I was pretty excited to get the new update with the color icons etc.
I cleared my calendar for the day and arrived right at 8am, they took my car back while I checked in at the service desk. To my disappointment......the guy said, oh I am not sure why PNA is telling customers to come in for the update as we do not have it yet and have no idea when we are getting it.
I remained calm and just walked away! You would think that within the 4 or 5 reminder emails they kept sending me one of them would have said to cancel the appointment.

What a mess and major disappointment!

That's awful - sorry it happened to you.

Did you make the appointment online, or did you speak with a real person?

I heard from my local dealer (also in NJ) that the update might be available as from this week Friday (July 22). Not guaranteed, though. I made an appointment for next week Friday (July 29).

Your dealer is not going to tell but had you asked about it they would. I too brought mine in today, but have already known they don’t have it yet. They told me they’re getting it on Friday but his tech would try it out on his own Taycan first before they’re confident enough to do it on the clients. Since I needed my windshield replaced anyway I went ahead with the appointment. I also told them about the locking issue, and the car going into park. Of course, they’re not aware of those two issues. It’s unbelievable no one has brought their Taycan in yet for that.

The same situation happened to me in Canada two weeks ago. Called in to do the update but then was told while I was waiting the dealership realized they had not received the update that cannot be done OTA.

I have had my car since March 2500 now and I seen my car go from drive to park twice while sitting at a traffic light. I now know to keep an eye on the dash when sitting for long lights to change. The good news here is that it does not happen much and only while the car is stopped. Maybe the update will fix this issue.

Thanks for the feedback, would you mind sending me a PM if your car gets the update. Then I will know to try my dealer again. Thanks

we made our appointment for the end of August. Plan is to have them do ALL the updates and recalls all at one visit. Waiting until end of next month gives them time to not only get the big PCM update but also to try it on a few other cars first, plus we wanted to make sure they pre-ordered and receive the updated interior alarm sensor, and reserve a loaner car for us. Will be keeping an eye on this thread to see how things work out in the meantime.

Things should start moving Friday July 22nd based on PCNA communications posted elsewhere. I would expect that dealers will prioritize stop-sale blocked deliveries before regular customers.

Everybody is manic to get in there as soon as possible - consider that there are likely to be some challenges as the techs work through these larger installs and the (apparently three) varying degrees of complexity for the MY’s 20/21/22 plus or minus being ANA6-impacted.

I’ve booked my appointment for mid-August, partly due to my own schedule, but also because I want to see things play out, give techs a chance to get to grips with this campaign.

The same folks complaining that this can’t happen soon enough and jumping in day-1 will be the ones complaining when their car needs to be kept longer or experience unanticipated side-effects because the techs are tackling this for the first time.

Manage your expectations appropriately if you are desperate to be at the front of the queue!

Maybe a Taycan...

Not surprising to me at all. My car was delivered without a few options that were to be retrofitted "at a later date". On two occasions I received emails from PCNA that the parts were now available and to call my dealer to make an appointment to have the work performed. I actually spoke to an SA and confirmed with them that the parts were, indeed, available.

On BOTH occasions my car sat at the dealership for a full day with NOTHING done to it as I was told upon pickup that the aforementioned parts that were purportedly "available" were in fact... N O T.

The most frustrating part of this was that I had to rent a car for the day as no loaners were available. Porsche, PCNA and their dealer network really has to get their communication together...

I had to take my 22 RWD in for this with 800 miles on it….they had the car for ten days, it hasn’t happened since the fix.

Mine was just picked up for an appointment tomorrow to get it done. We will see what happens, I'll post here what I find out.

The dealer is terrible with communication, so I don't expect to hear anything till late in the day.
