As well as the large size, I'm not keen on the bezel (I don't like Rolex Daytona / Omega Speedy either) , I would sooner have a plain rotateable 60 minute timer bezel.

In contrast I don't like the 05 minute markers.
I would sooner have plain dot markers or batons or Romans.

That said, if I was looking for an only watch and also wanted a smart watch, and owned a Taycan, I would probably consider it.

Just my 2p....

I have to say I like that more than I thought I would. But not at that price. And some extra functionality as above would be nice. Maybe one day. If Tesla do it everyone will follow (someone will now correct me with a link to a Tesla smartwatch)
There are lots of Tesla things you can do with an Apple watch. I'm in the Android camp and use a Tesla API to unlock my charge port by tapping my phone on an RFID tag on my cable. Would be useful to have a Porsche API but I imagine the their client base is a lot less nerdy ?

I bought an Apple Watch ages ago but was disappointed by the ease of unwanted selection from the touch screen face particularly in winter when sliding my pullover away from the face to read the time and battery life was pitiful.
It had loads of functions I had zero interest in too.
I prefer a watch with hands over a screen to just a screen.
I tried a nice looking Garmin something or other which I like the styling of best but liked the Withings best overall for what I needed as it hadn’t got a touch screen. It has around 30 days battery life and does everything I want.
I do alternate it with a clockwork watch as well because mechanical…

beein meself a collector.. Porsche is probably the only (important) brand having failed so often in watch world ...even despite IWC partnership in the past ... and it is very very interesting because mainly for a sport lux brand as porsche , it may be because watched have been too cheap !

Look @ Aston (collabs with Tag/JLC/GP lately) with fantastic auto movments and complications or Ferrari (many brands as Genta ...) but with a tag price coming with it from $$$ keeping value in time
Not the biggest success but certainly not the biggest fail as Porsche's...

Connected watch is a new slot/hype ...but I guess it will be as "glorious" as former ones... it will be a big "connected" fail....

Iwatch(or samsungs/ any chinese android) is & will be much more functional than any new models ... despite it has a TAG logo on it

Problem No. 1 with this watch: It is a Swiss brand but made in China. WTF? What comes next, Porsche Macans made in China? Problem No. 2: It is a watch. I have a couple beautiful watches (which were actually manufactured in Switzerland) in a closet collecting dust because my iPhone does everything that a watch can do, and a little more. No need to carry watches, compasses, maps, calculators, CD's, etc. etc. But the Tag does look pretty cool!

Porsche will make Macans in China the second it's economic to do so. With German energy strategy they may look to diversify production more in future...do you think none of Porsche's parts are currently made there?

On point 2, if you took that approach with everything you'd be driving a white Toyota Corolla ;)

I have mechanical watches because I like them. I don't look at my phone for the time when I'm wearing one.

My Samsung watch is useful when out for a walk/other activity as I find it handy to know how I'm doing (though arguably not being able to fasten my trousers does the same). I can also make/take calls on it so don't need to carry my phone.

They do some nice analogue style faces for that too... But I don't use them as for what I use that watch for, they are less functional.

Horses for courses... But 2.5k for a Tag branded digital watch? No thanks :)

Well spotted!

I have got a Tag on now and just looked on the case back and it says 'Swiss Made since 1960'.

Really shocked that's made in China. ?

Has no moving parts so not possible for it to be "Swiss Made", which has to be:

"developed in Switzerland, uses a Swiss movement, is assembled and controlled in Switzerland by the Manufacture d'horlogerie and when 60% of its manufacturing costs are Swiss."

I still can't get over how a £2,300 smartwatch needs to be charged EVERY DAY!

An expensive toy that will soon be tossed to the back of a drawer and never seen again. Smartwatches quickly lose their appeal where you can only wear them for 16 hours a day before having to ram a USB cable into it.

You can pick up an unbranded smartwatch from Amazon for £100 that has a longer battery life... And more functions.

You make some excellent points, now where can I find a white Toyota Corolla?? I too love mechanical watches -- they are literally precision-made mechanical works of art. And, upon further reflection, they are truly a compliment to EVs in terms of reducing greenhouse gases; self winding Swiss watches use no energy whatsoever. I think I will write a letter to Porsche strongly suggesting that they provide their faithful Taycan eco-warriors with complimentary Taycan-co-branded eco-warrior Rolex watches (rather than the Taycan pens they are currently giving us). It would be a beautiful thing to see all Taycan owners proudly wearing their eco-friendly Taycan-Rolex watches as a badge of environmental stewardship!

Funny you bring up that question because even in the watch collecting world a lot of Swiss Watch brands can play fast N loose with the regulations/minimum requirements that allow a company to stamp 'Swiss made' on their watch dials, making customers think it's some automatic guarantee of quality and authenticity.

Does watch photography get any douchier? :D

OK, I'll out myself. I picked up the 42mm version of the e4 Connected on leather strap two weeks ago. Crazy money for a smartwatch, but to each his own. IMO, the 42mm is the better looking and more versatile version (and I have small wrists). Quality feel and I love the internal fixed bezel. We'll see if the expanded watch options for the Porsche version become available on this model; no need to buy the expensive Golf version to get that functionality.

I completely understand if such things aren't your cup of tea, but I'm a gadget guy and this is just a tool for daily wear; feels good on my wrist and offers smartwatch functionality without looking like a smartwatch. Literally no one notices it isn't a "watch".

That's what I was getting at. There are better, less expensive smart watches, e.g., the Apple Watch I wear every day and there are higher quality mechanical watches, e.g., the Baume et Mercier that sits in my drawer collecting dust. My thought was that this would give me the smartwatch functionality without looking like a smartwatch. I'll be sure to post my findings if I'm foolish enough to go through with the purchase :CWL:
