Are you saying that it doesn’t revert after calling tech support? Or are you saying that what I read (about the charger being reset to 20 amps, removing the option to change it on the app, and having to call tech support) is wrong? I don’t want to post something that’s wholly off base, so will delete the post if I’m wrong. As I said in my post, I have no personal experience with it. Just going off of what I read from various forums on the ChargePoint charger. The CP Flex Home Charger does not revert to 20 Amps.
Thanks for the clarification. I guess I can put the CP back on my list if it holds the amperage value. The CP Charger app does appear to have the amperage choice removed. However once set to 40 amps it holds that setting. Have no idea what happens when contacting tech support. The Porsche chargers can revert to 20 amps every time it is activated. Hope this helps.
I’m at 2934 with automatic update turned off. However I am still getting notice of a software update available.hmmmm very very interesting
I have two PMCC that were included with vehicle (2020 Taycan & 2021 Cayenne eHybrid)
one PMCC is updated
the other PMCC is _NOT_ updated
the non-updated PMCC says there is NO UPDATE available - last week it was pestering me every day about the update but I declined -now it claims there is no update
hmmmmm - Porsche may have pulled it as others have suggested…
same as you 2934 - and it claims there is not update - and it's online w/Wifi.I’m at 2934 with automatic update turned off. However I am still getting notice of a software update available.
What version are you at that you don’t see an update available?
It could be worse. I was looking at alternative chargers, including the ChargePoint Home Flex. From what I can tell based on lots of recent posts by people, ChargePoint reset their charger to 20 amps, too. Furthermore, the ChargePoint app no longer lets you set the current to a higher value. Supposedly you have to call ChargePoint tech support *each time you want to charge* as it resets to 20 amps after each use.[Removed per corrected info from Bill33525 on a subsequent post]
I’ll caveat my post by saying that I have no personal experience with this. It seems that everybody acknowledges that the current’s been set to 20, and setting it with the app has disappeared. But, again, I have no personal experience. Point is, the Porsche charger could be worse.
Am thinking about getting a Pulsar Plus. Looks like Austin Energy might pay 50%, and the feds pay another 30%, so might be a nice alternative. The Grizzl-E Smart Charger doesn’t supply its own app, so neither Grizzl-E nor ChargePoint are in the running as a replacement for me personally.
Cheers,
John
Like you I have two PMCC units. One was upgraded to PMCC version 3014, and on the other I disabled automatic updates so it is still at 2934.same as you 2934 - and it claims there is not update - and it's online w/Wifi.
I just replaced my PMCC with a wallbox... works great- but there is significant amount of feedback on this thread on some other great choices for a PMCC replacement...Thanks for the clarification. I guess I can put the CP back on my list if it holds the amperage value.
Like everyone else, I’m pretty disgusted about the reset to 20 amps on the PMCC. I have the PMCC plus the charging dock for another $470 to add insult to injury. Might have just lived with it, being grumpy each time I had to manually change the amperage, but with the rebates I might be able to get on a new charger, it looks like a no-brainer to just mothball the Porsche charger & dock for now in favor of one of the others on the market. The biggest question is which one to get.
Cheers,
John
software version 3014 will limit you to 50% each time the unit powers up - it will do the update over OTA if you let it
Right and i just had my unit at the dealer who said the latest software was downloaded.I really do not want this latest version because at 30 Amps my charger seems behave although the temp at the J-plug is a bit high at the end of charging ie 120FLike you I have two PMCC units. One was upgraded to PMCC version 3014, and on the other I disabled automatic updates so it is still at 2934.
So I unplugged the PMCC that had not yet upgraded to 3014 from the wall and after plugging it back in there was no notification of a SW update available.
I'm very curious what this means.
May be the charger was beefed up for the 22 models so tuning down the amperage will not be necessary.I have software version 2934 and can charge from 20 to 90% at 30 Amps and 5.9 Kwatts but cannot go any higher with the amperage because of the cord temperatureThe update was pulled worldwide. I would expect a new update to be released that fixes/reverses these new issues/changes. I doubt an Software would fix the overheating issues with the cables though.
