My 3D printed Taycan phone holder

I might well ping him re transparent - can you share what inner diameter you chose (to save me measuring and possibly incorrectly!) - thx!

PS: sent him a request - both for transparent and to leave out the cut-out wire groove which presumably would necessitate a modified 3D model so prob not likely!

The other thought I had was modifying something like this (adding a ring of rubber or other to increase diameter from 74 to 92 mm) to stabilize and sit in the cup holder - if rubber ring inserted at base of cup holder then top open for air flow and cupholder light visibility - slight tilt of phone might be useful/cool!

Just thinking out loud -and not too much thought into it yet but obviously I am still considering a hidden route for the power chord - this base is $16 on Amazon - you supply charger.

PS: Just now read not compatible with 13 Pro which is weird as just a base but maybe the Pro's cameras do not allow the MagSafe to snap in place ...

Yes, that would work too ... you can actually buy inserts for cup holders which stick up above the cupholder rim quite a bit. I like what you found better because it's not very high. I'm pretty sure that 3dcreations would help you bring your design to fruition. He's easy to work with. Hope you send pictures if you get this installed, as well as instructions regarding fully hiding the powercord w/in the cupholder.

Exactly - WeatherTech etc make all kinds of variants but like you I don't look at my phone when driving but have actually turned off the OEM charger as gets too hot and inefficient - so a flat lying and secure mag holder like yours def a good option (that and getting anytime in and out through that crappy design console lid always better to avoid). I can easily create a foam or rubber (both better to avoid vibration) ring insert to hold this puppy and not be visible at top. Yes, I have too much time on my hands !

OK - decided on a very different route - I had two Porsche cupholder ashtrays and was really only using one to cover up the cupholder on the armrest which just makes it way more comfortable with your arm there.

Actually forgot I had the spare so decided to chop it up and transform it into a magnetic mount for the phone which of course keeps the cupholder light rings visible - seems to work like a charm and still even works as a hinged storage cup - good for keeping other keys out of sight or whatever! Mount cost $14 and even has the matching gloss black surround

The top end which was the base for the Porsche logo'd cap handle is covered in an Alcantera-like black felt - this just a quick patch but will replace with better (some gaps obvious!) - but actually looks really good, almost OEM!


PICS:

1: Armrest cupholder with OEM ashtray at bottom - top cupholder with my modified OEM ashtray with and mag mount - can easily switch this out for a mag charger if desired but of course more involved if you want to hide the chord completely.

2: I ut out the inner workings of the ashtray and provides ben more sam for keys etc - you can see the twist off locking nut on base of lid that holds the mag mount to the modified lid. All super easy to swap out.

Just for your ref Jason got back and will be experimenting with Resin for a clear version (only material that could work well) and he has a redesign of your cupholder now with a more hidden chord look I had specifically asked him about - def improvement imo:

Here are a couple of renders of the (more or less) final version of the centerconsole mount that I sent to Shapeways to print in (black) SLS. I'll post some actual pictures when it arrives here.

Made it a little wider to I could add some padding on the inside.

Yes, the hidden cord is definitely an improvement. Great suggestions!! I'll look forward to seeing the translucent version ... I might well order a replacement at that time. Thanks.
