I've been absolutely loving my TT ST since picking it up, what a superb comfortable, beautiful and capable car.

One of my few minor gripes with the car and one that is almost laughably bad, is the parcel shelf supplied. It obstructs lots of the boot, is massively over-complicated and is a minor pain to put in and out. So much so that I've bought a storage bag for it and it's now in the garage permanently.

Very minor for me, but anyone else find this? Are there better/3rd party solutions available? Something that simply obscures the view into the boot and gets pulled up with the boot lid would do, surely?

I don’t find it complicated or a pain to pull out or put it back in at all. This is really subjective but I’m really surprised by your comment. Can you expand on what you think is a pain or overly complex?

I think you'll struggle to find a substitute.

I like having a parcel shelf and my Model Y not having one magnified the terrible NVH from rear wheel wells and all the noise bouncing off the hatch glass and glass roof (have since added a rigid third-party one).

I don’t have my CT yet but I imagine some felt tape on hard bits that contact other plastic will do the job. I’ve applied a tremendous amount of felt tape to my Tesla and the CT parcel shelf should be very easy by comparison. Some tapping and fist banging should identify what areas are making noise.

I personally didn’t find a problem with rattling at all. Just the crappy design and space it takes up.

NVH is not a problem in a Taycan

Helpful thanks. I am likely going down this road. Even the slightest bit of noise like this bothers me.

I used both polyester felt tape (1mm) and flocking tape (26 mils) of the JVCC brand on Amazon, and would be good to have both of those in your toolkit.. The flocking tape gives a more OEM look if the section will be visible; has different texture and like suede. The larger and fuzzy felt tape does better damping.

I removed mine as soon as I got the car so my dog had space.

The efficiency is so awful for short journeys I am using a Prius for dog walking and put the parcel shelf back in, I actually thought it was better than usual.

The pivoted rear section gives reasonable opening when the tailgate lifts it.
Certainly the 4 blocks it clips onto are a bit tight to fold in and out.
I haven’t noticed a rattle but haven’t driven far since I put it back in.

It’s crap, offers no sound deadening from the boot ‘boom’ of wheels over bad roads plus the connectors for the suspension ropes both snapped off the connectors all during just 16000m. Warranty I know, still a poor show for £100k+ car.

Remove it ?
Removing the shelf makes the rear transmission whine louder. Crank up the stereo is probably the more sure solution - drown out the noises you don't like with noised you do like.
