I like some of it but it’s a little too clean in terms of design. I would like a little more drama. Good to see they are investing heavily into the future here.

Yeah, the unfortunate part of engineering a car that needs heavy focus on aerodynamics to reduce battery drain. We don't care if my ICE car gets 19 MPG vs. 25 MPG. But if you release an electric car sub 250 mile range everyone complains.

Personally, for an aggressive looking electric 911, I'd be good with 125 mile range.

Your assessment is spot!

That’s exactly what I get in my Taycan while city driving in winter. Can’t say I’m super pleased with this number.

Electric 911 Targa is the car I want. I hope they make it before I'm too old.

Porsche will _NEVER_ make a 911 EV - never never never never - the 911 "brand" is an ICE brand…and it will remain that way until they can no longer make ICE's...

something much like a 911 EV _WILL_ eventually get made - it has to be that way if this EV thing goes forward - but it will not be called a "911" no matter how much it is in fact an EV 911…

just like they didn't make an EV Panamera - they made a Taycan…

so I believe we will never see a 911 EV…as a "brand/model" name

but there will be something that tick's all the boxes for those that want a 911 Ev - it just won't be called that   :involve::giggle:

my $0.02

I have a prediction: Porsche will keep claiming that there will be no 911 EV... until they very suddenly announce otherwise, in 5-6 years, when they declare that the new 800HP 911 EV with lightweight solid-state/lithium-sulphur/other new tech batteries is a better sports car car than any ICE ever built.

Synthetic fuels? A way to keep a vintage 911 on the road in 2035 with slightly less guilt, but not ever a mainstream fuel.

I don’t see that as an equivalent.
The Panamera is a recent Porsche take on a VW platform car, the 911 has been around for decades.

I do expect a 911 EV, personally.

When you consider how very, very different a modern version of a 911 is to the original an EV version would likely be nearer to what is called a 911 now than the current 911 is to an original.

IMHO

What is the large Porsche investment into the synthetic fuel development for?

I assumed that was to keep certain ICE models (911) going.
But I may be completely wrong??

I'm not a buyer for that. The instant torque and low service intervals have me sold on BEVs as just simpler and better.

It's like Motorola RAZR vs iPhone.

Would you not think that synthetic fuel is - like hydrogen for passenger cars - a desperate but futile attempt to redefine sustainable propulsion while keeping some of the old technology alive?

What if the technology is low emission and eventually achieves economies of scale that put on cost parity with other power sources? In that case it might make a lot of sense. Agree it’s a big if, but then so we’re electric cars 20 years ago.
