So please help me out:
- Porsche recommends 85% charging for longevity reasons
- One can configure 85% in smart charging
- One should not go below 20% either
- this effectively gives you a 60kWh battery opposed to a 93kWh

what am I missing here? Does everyone follow this guidance? After 2Y’s is there data yet, supporting the impact of these habits?
When should I charge to 100% then? When immediately reusing it? Should I just not store the car for prolonged periods @ 100% or NEVER go 100%? And is 85% the new 100%

Opinions, fiction and facts pls, Let’s go!

First od all, It’s not 93kwh, but 83.7 only.

2nd: you can charge 100% if you are going to use it (during the night, for instance); just dont park it for days over 85%. In a year and a half, most of my charging sessions (at work)were to 100% since I was spending 12-15% SOC to come home.
You can also go below 20%, it won’t be end of the world (or end of the battery), just don’t ne lazy…if you can charge it….do it before.

Last, but not least: search over the forum, it’s been discoused so many times.

First of all the gross battery if Performance Plus is 93.4 kWh BUT the actual net battery available for charging is 83.7 kWh.

Charging to 85% for daily use is recommended, 100% if you plan a longer journey and use that day.

20% minimum is only a guideline and using more is quite ok.

Ok, then the next point. What is better?
3 cycles topping up from 65% to 85% (i.e. 3 days in a row)
Depleting to 25% and do 1 cycle getting back to 85% (i.e. once every 3 days)
so less cycle bigger span, or more cycles smaller span…

Ok, so multiday stand stills should ideally then happen around 50% charge, load <80% when you can, 100% if you have to. Going <20% not recommended. DC hurts more than AC.
is that the fair summary?

IMO, it doesnt’ matter…. Cycles are not count on that way.
for instance, , if you charge five times (65-85%) it’s one charging cycle.
If you charge two times (20-70%), it also counts as one charging cycle as well.

Ok so longevity is the amount of kW’s processed during lifecycle, not in how many or few sessions those happen?

Easy: you can go to 100% and to 1% whenever you NEED(!).
Keys:
- Do not let sit the battery over 85%. Use timer above it and start your trip ASAP.
- Do not let sit the battery below 20% for extended time, charge immediately at this stage if possible.
Proof: I frequently charge to 100% before longer road trips and discharging very often below 20% but keeping the above "keys" always. The result is 98,04% State of Health (SoH) of my battery after 13,000km. Believe me, this SoH is really good.

I’m using Tibber, tonight I can charge at home for as low as 16ct, this is not every night, but I try to plan for when these come to do the bulk of the charging. Variable contract rates changing by the hour. Commited for 24h forward.
trying to avoid DC (Ionity) as much as possible and try to stay under 85%
so tonight 16ct top up from 62% to 85% next time I use the car will be Tuesday.
below app has an API to MyPorsche smart charging. So Tibber will charge and stop automatically. Xmas it was 6ct! It’s awesome! Same fo my wife’s Mini Countryman.
