JUST GOT MY TAYCAN TURBO S 2021 - Ceramic Coating or not?

Hi guys my last post was about how I missed out on a Taycan Turbo S with 25K miles - lucky for me I found another one with only 5,700 miles and with an insane spec list see (attached)

I am just awaiting to pick it up next week - will be sharing more images soon.

My question is do you think its worth getting the ceramic coating. The dealer has offered it to me at £660 which I still think is a bit steep but let me know what you guys think whether its worth it or not.

You would most likely wax it, because you know it protects the paint. Ceramic coating let's you not worry about that for a much longer time - and arguably is better. The question then... is it worth the price? I purchased some Optum Gloss Coat for $59. It's easy to do, sure. However, there are several steps to prep the paint and appy it. I've done three cars previously. Did my GTS in about four hours. If you can get an orbital polisher, you'll be good to go. It would be easy to post the steps for you. Or, save yourself the time and pay. So the real questions are... do you enjoy working on your car? Do you have an enclosed lighted space to do it? And, do you have 4-5 hours to get it done?

Honestly, it's really just a bunch of busy work. There's really not much you can do to mess it up. I know it seems intimidating because you have your new car and you want it to be perfect. However, if I can do it, anyone can. Orbital buffers, I have one from Griots, are extremely easy to use and actually difficult to hurt your car. There are so many online videos to learn how to do this stuff. It's truly not rocket science. If your game, I'd be happy to make a list for you!

How is the ceramic coating only £660? My shop, which is one of the best in the country charged me $1,700 for Macan ceramic coating which is comparable to a sedan and then I pay $200 twice a year sometimes for 2 hours of inspection and renewal to keep it perfect. Just did it today actually, and they always have something amazing at the shop: Rivian SUV, Acura NSX Type S, and $2MM McLaren P1.

The shop that installed my XPel wanted $1,600 to do the ceramic coating. They claimed to use a product that lasts longer than the 'consumer' version. Then, for a couple hundred would 'boost' it every couple years. I don't know, but figured they were just reinstalling it. I knew I could do it myself for $100. I had it on some other cars and based on how water beaded up, I think it was easly good for two + years.

Rinse car
foam car
wash car
clay car
polish car
wash car with something that strips, car needs to be fully degreased (use washing up liquid or something simmilar)
dry car with purified water and air dryer to prevent chalk spots.
make sure you’re in a covered, >15c room where you can cure at least 48h
apply coating
cure
don’t wash for 2 weeks
done!
