Found a tsb about the crack. The cause is too big of an air gap, whatever that means.

Stress crack tsb
Thanks for finding this but this troubles me even more:

How can large air gap be fixed and this issue can happen during normal vehicle operation even after the replacement?

Does your crack look anything like the one in the photo? Mine looks nearly identical to the one in the middle.

Yup, looks like the middle for me too. The V at the edge underneath the rail and spread more toward the rear but didn't quite get that big yet. It was after 3 days before taking it to the dealer.

IMO that's putting a TON of faith in the roof glass adhesive...

Finally got it back. Took 2 weeks. They said the roof was improperly torqued at the factory. Here's the description of the work order:

I took a quick glance at the dealer invoice and the glass roof alone was $5778. Hopefully this is a permanent fix.

Did they replace the windshield?

No, they didn't have to remove the windshield.
Any suggestions for how I can convince the dealer to not replace the windshield
.. again. They insist that they need to replace the windshield.

Perhaps you can reference my work order that the windshield didn't need to be replaced? But if they are adamant that it has to be to get it done correctly then I wouldn't fight it unless you have to pay out of pocket for this?

I just hope mine was done properly without having to remove the windshield. They already scratched some of the trims and left the interior dirty so I can see why you wouldn't want them to remove other parts if not needed.

interesting your roof cracked as well! our CT4's roof cracked last month...finally got it back. some of the interior trim is also dirty, so I may look into having them replace it under warranty. I hope it doesn't happen again, for any of us!

Dirty can be cleaned... Look for deeper damage like scratches in the plastic trim, ill fitting trim, holes, etc.

I'm sorry to read this. You've helped a lot of people find allocations. Hopefully this is a one-off for you, and the rest of your ownership goes smoothly.

These types of issues are always a bit annoying at first, but in the grand scheme, it’s all good…Porsche does tend to take care of its clients.

I have a feeling it’s more an issue with the car (perhaps with the welds near the roof? that’s what I had previously read somewhere on here) than the glass, so I wouldn’t be surprised it if happens again. Till then, we’ll continue to enjoy the car! It was a short vacation driving the Macan loaner around for a bit:CWL:

It’s been interesting to see this issue continue to pop up. I have a cross turismo on the way to replace my sedan and this provokes a small amount of anxiety. I do wonder if this is a car/glass engineering issue unfortunately rather than an adhesive problem or over tightening of the roof rails. Basically an issue of a very big piece of glass on a long car. Hopefully eventually this gets solved. When I spoke with my sales associate he said they had only seen one cross turismo with this problem and it happened while they were offloading it from the delivery truck.
