Scuffed one of my rims. Then the second and then the third. I actually pay attention to how I park but after 8k km, it's inevitable if one does shorts errands around a town and parks 4,5,10 times a day not mentioning narrow roadways etc.

I haven't found a service here in South Portugal that will do these small rim repairs and when I went to my tyre guy he plain told me "Don't be a sissy. Come back when they're all chewed up and I'll send them to a company in the north that will refurbish them top bottom. Not worth the trouble for a few scrapes and battle scars. At least your driving it, man"

I decided to follow his advice.
Very good advice!

Black High gloss is an easy repair. There will be numerous specialists around Brum or ask your OPC who they use. Porsche Reading where happy to tell me who they use but I have a fantastic alloy repair shop very near me and they charge £96 Inc vat for a full strip, powder coat, diamond cut and lacquer.
Who did they use if you don’t mind me asking?

I can't remember now but can ask again. They were in Reading from memory

I use Bespoke Alloys at Denham but not very handy for the Midlands! They did one of my 22" BMW diamond cut Alloys and BMW replaced the 2 rear ones under warranty and I couldn't tell the new from the refurbished

Insure them cost me £300 ish for three years and I get 4 repairs but annum . So total is 12. It’s part of life and to be honest £80 per alloy is not bad at all.

how you finding Taycan ownership
That’s quite affordable. I’ll definitely check it out thanks for sharing this.

I am really enjoying it tbh. It gets a bit getting used to in terms of a electric car but i have loved it. The only thing which you have to mentally get use to is just preparing your journey (with charge points etc)
That’s minor damage compared to mine. My wife was on the right lane passing a SUV on the left when it suddenly jumped into her lane causing her to swerve to the right and scraped the curb pretty badly. We have wheels insurance and it’s at the dealer now getting repaired. They had some wheels repair shop come by to pick it up. Hopefully it will turn out well.

Don't sweat it. It happens.

Just get it repaired and move on - till it happens again.

As mentioned, your dealer will likely just get someone in to do it (and add their own charge).

First one I kerbed, I got repaired by a mobile guy.
Second time wasn't as bad. Fixed it myself.
Thanks - the sound of when the rim rubbed against the kerb just hurt lol

Get a black gloss rim paint and a small brush, plenty of $20 packages online. And paint it simply. No one will ever see. Once you plan to sell or have much more damage you can do a professional repair all rims at once. So basically it’s nothing

I was in Bullring Car Park today and upon entering the ticket machine entry point was so tight that I accident scuffed/ kerbed a very small part of my alloys. Then when I was leaving it happened again but this time it was worse. The entry point is so tight I think it’s impossible for any wide car to get through without keeping your alloys. See attached the damage. What do you think I should do I have had a couple of offers from other garages around the £80-£90 still waiting on Porsche quote any ideas how much it will be.

I e done it before as well they can be repaired. Check with the dealer - they can’t do it but will be able to recommend someone.

@designbymys - all the advice above sounds good to me. However, rather than wait till after I’ve had lots of damage, I like to repair my wheels fairly quickly and learn from the experience so that I have fewer curb incidents in the future. At the moment the period between curb incidents seems to be about 10-12 months, and I love how the car looks, so I don’t like driving around for one year with curbed wheels.

Now a bit of personal experience/advice. Use your 360° view camera when you’re backing out of parking places that have a curb on one side or the other to understand when the best time is to cut your wheels. Backing out can be just as big as source of curb issues as pulling in.

Another bit of advice is that when you’re turning into a very narrow opening start wide, which might mean going into the oncoming traffic lane on a 2-lane road. I do this when making a right turn into a very narrow entryway to get a parking ticket at our nearby Starbucks. Of course I’m very conscious of oncoming traffic, and I never interfere with anyone else’s right-of-way.

At the end of the day though, I wouldn’t worry too much about the frequency of these incidents. The point is to really drive the car and enjoy it and not be fearful about doing things that might create minor damage to the wheels. Shit happens - right?

As noted, they are mobile wheel repair facilities. They are truly amazing at what amount of damage they can return to pristine condition. The amount shown above are truly a very light amount compared to what they can easily handle, and when done they return wheel to new condition. Not to say it isn’t stressful when we curb rash even lightly one wheel of ours…

Cover it up with a black sharpie and get it fixed once every couple years lol.

Scuffed rims are normal wear and tear for a daily driver. The taycan isn't that special it needs to be preserved in showroom condition all the time lol.

Don’t sweat it. Google “rim repair near me.” That’s what I did after my wife came a little close with the back wheel and grazed a curb. C$175 for rush service, $125 for 2 week turn around. I was about to put in the winter’s on, so I didn’t rush it.

Fast forward to late winter early spring. I was enjoying a nice s bend sweeper downtown and was pushing hard. I drifted about a foot… and maybe a millimetre too much! I forgot I still had winter’s on and ended up touched the curb every so lightly I put a 1 inch mark on it. It was so minor, but the cost was so cheap to refinish it. I had it redone anyways, why not?!
Yeah, i was lucky that I bumped the tire mostly when i hit a curb during a right turn. downtown. Anyway, long story short. I am getting a new car to replace the one which i hit the curb slightly.

It's the only sensible thing to do really.
