I've been getting ready for a solo drive across country, so why not buy a new car
2023 Chalk over Black Taycan GTS Sport Turismo!

Remote worker and considering a change of scenery so heading to the west coast to check it out, dropping the dog with family, ocean front on the Atlantic, and heading for an ocean front AirBnB on the Pacific for a couple weeks. Couple of work stops along the way but looking forward to seeing what this thing can do! So far, it has far exceeding my expectations.

I'll be in the SoCal area towards the end of the month for a few weeks so any recommendations for some good driving roads are always welcome and if anyone wants to pull together a meet-up or if there is one I can join let me know.

Couple of pics before and after PPF and ceramic coating, plan to take some more pictures along the way.

Thanks for the feedback, but sadly no I can't. One of my work stops is Kansas City, so after that it'll be a straight shot across to Denver. I've been doing lots of research and stalking PlugShare so it'll be an adventure

YOLO, I hope that one day we have access to them but I can't wait on that :)

Beautiful!
As for diving roads if you’re between Orange County and San Diego try the 74 Ortega Hwy. If closer to LA try Angeles Crest Hwy.
Here’s a link for others that people recommend

Enjoy and safe travels!

Some hints for a brave guy on a long trip: try to get hotels w/ EV chargers; assume the next charger will NOT work and allow for that; charge whenever you can ..even if you are at 60%..and don't be afraid to go to 100% ...150 chargers are often faster than 350 (so don't obsess) good luck..I envy your trip!

If you're going to be in SoCal on a Friday morning, the drive up towards Mill Creek Summit for the Good Vibes Breakfast Club gathering would be worth getting up early for...

An astounding collection of precious metal is all but guaranteed...

(photo from a GVBC gathering at Newcomb's Ranch in December '22. My understanding is that location isn't currently in use for GVBC due to access issues.)

My recommendation for SoCal roads would be to follow the Reddit recommendations. Those are all good, particularly the Malibu roads. Far superior to Angeles Crest when it comes to aggravation and safety. If the Crest is a must, then go early on a weekday, otherwise it's dangerous (oncoming traffic constantly crossing the yellow) and frustrating (sloooooow vehicles). It's a nice view and less busy if you go up to Mt Wilson and check out LA from there.

Malibu, on the other hand, is much less crowded and there are plenty of really nice roads. Plus places to eat. Newcomb's up the Crest is closed now so there's not much going on up there. Plus the Crest isn't open all the way to Wrightwood so it's just an in and back out drive.

In Malibu go for Latigo, Stunt is decent, Mulholland is great, Decker is awesome but tight (which is nice because it keeps the speed down and you can really feel the car), and Los Flores is excellent. It's hard to go wrong with the choices really.

I'm an avid motorcyclist so use all of these roads often and also use my cars there. I mostly stay away from the Crest but it is beautiful up there...I just have too many horror stories.

Thanks to everyone for the advice and recommendation, I’ve got some threads and Reddit to read through.

I plan to post some more pictures throughout my journey here, if anyone is interested in a meetup in SoCal or something is already planned that I can join let me know, I’ll explore the regional threads also.

You might also check the PCA web sites for the local clubs from Santa Barbara down to San Diego and see if there are organized back country drives.

Im 13k miles into 2 months of ownership. I drove to the Grand Canyon, Zion Natl Park, Arches Natl Park, Rocky Mountain Natl Park, Colorado National Monument. Also did the peak to peak scenic highway drive in colorado. Plenty of beautiful scenic drives. If you do that, save urself some money and buy an annual park pass for like $85.

In a month i'm planning on hitting Glacier Natl Park as well. More scenic drives.

Maybe get to Yellowstone and Grand Tetons too? not too far from Glacier...I've done most western parks but not yet brave enough to travel there (from East Coast) in my Taycan..maybe when we get access to more Tesla chargers? You are a lucky (and brave!) guy. Good luck and bon voyage.

Excellent Adventure.
Go with Bill and Ted.
Crayon (Chalk) GTS over black is, of course, perfect.
Hoping that black interior is the Race Tex Alcantara.
Perfect road trip spec.
20 wheels. Adaptive cruise. Manual charge ports so air curtains intact.
Did you get black callipers?
I kept the red.
Can’t see them behind 20s.
Of course the sedan would be optimal for efficiency but the ST is so practical and only slightly less gorgeous.
Have fun.
