As someone who regularly takes interesting road trips, I greatly miss the service called TeslaFi which logged all my Tesla journeys, producing lots of statistics, charging data, performance data, and most importantly, maps like the ones below. Each year, when we make a book of our photographs from the year, these maps make a wonderful way of remembering where we have been.

I haven’t found anything similar which would collect and present data from a Taycan. Has anyone else? I have heard of TRONITY but it seems more oriented to fleet data collection, and I’ve seen some OBD solutions which don’t do maps, and I also wondered whether the data could be pulled from my BlackVue dash cam or even logged on a phone. Anyone found a solution?

One of our forum members created an app called Chargey that you might want to check out.
There are many good things about Chargey it seems. But it wasn't clear to me that it tracks your actual route driven - I think you have to flag each stage in the journey manually and it records the position from your car. I'll sign up and find out more.

TeslaFi polls the Tesla servers and/or car every couple of seconds and so it knows where the vehicle is at all times. The user needs to do nothing - it's all done in the cloud and you can just go and look when you want to see data or a map. (TeslaFi also has some clever functionality to go to sleep and not keep the car awake while parked.).

Porsche's own Track Precision app
I tried that but couldn't get it to integrate with my 2022 Sport Turismo. Will try again. It might do some of what I'm looking for but isn't really set up for a multi-day road trip....?

That is correct, the idea is that it's a trip tracker/timer. For trip tracking you start the trip, and log each stop type (food, rest stop, charging stop, etc.).

I appreciate you giving it a look and if there's anything I can help with hit me up!

I can see the value in such an app, especially in the US where so many road trips are on fairly straightforward highways so it's pretty clear how you got from A to B. What I used to get from TeslaFi, though, was a trace of my whole twisty route through the mountains, etc.

Maybe the Porsche API doesn't give third party apps access to a frequently-updated vehicle position?

It might one day, but (at least using the open source library that I'm using) detailed trip GPS data is not available.

There are some other options, but also some tradeoffs.

An app could, in theory, run background location tracking to get constant updates and record them. This would come at huge battery life cost, and also raise some privacy concerns.

I take respecting the user seriously.

So what Chargey does is stamp the GPS location whenever you add a stop. It then uses routing APIs to plot the route between those two stops.

This allows me to suspend the app completely when its backgrounded, preserving battery life.

I'm quite interested to hear how it works for you and open to suggestions for improvement. Thanks again for giving it a look!

Maybe it allows logging to be paused at stops and replayed as a single journey.
It uses Google Maps and images, and can be set up to automatically capture high-G events on video by phone or Porsche dashcam.
It captures all data (including GPS latitude and longitude) at 10 times per second, so your downloads would be huge.
MY22+ should connect with it, and as it's free I think it's worth checking out.

Tronity is doing this.

You can see in the calendar all your trips even without charging and you see the number of charges.

Porsche Taycan Trip logger/maps? 1695570304308

You can see all your trips in a map but I don't see the point
And you can click on a specific date and see what was your trip and stops
Porsche Taycan Trip logger/maps? 1695571970443

Porsche Taycan Trip logger/maps? 1695570562273

And then per trips, you can click and have detail map with your charges

Porsche Taycan Trip logger/maps? 1695571674225

Porsche Taycan Trip logger/maps? 1695571931066

and graphs with your SOC, speed, elevation..
Like this (on the autobahn off course)
Porsche Taycan Trip logger/maps? 1695572119981

And per charge, you have the charging curve
Porsche Taycan Trip logger/maps? 1695570988486

Normally, there is an overview of all your trips and charges on a map for a certain period but it's not working for me right now

super helpful, thank you!

and on why I like the lifetime map: it is my go-to answer whenever people say bad things about EVs as road trip vehicles. As you can see from my example we’ve been all over Europe and only very occasionally waited for charging. The picture usually astonishes EV newcomers who think “range” matters. Also, it helps me see at a glance where we should get out and travel more :)

I like that charging curve graph. But I wish it would auto recognise the name/network of the charger.

i will give TRONITY a try then.

It also gives you the name of the charger and his position on the map

It's just too many screens to show everything here.

I know some geek guys in this forum that would love to have access to all those data from a lot of of Taycans and combine everything in one big Excel.

BTW it's also possible to download some data to Excel but I never tried/needed.

Tronity was used for me just to have data in ABRP but now that they improved I sometimes check the website as well with all my data.

I am impressed what Tronity can do nowadays. I tried to use them in 2021 and -22 but there was a problem to get into from my car. I just gave up with their services, but this would be very iseful.

And I think @DerekS would be able to get similar information as well

The problem is, the Tronity API costs 2.99 Euro per vehicle per month.

Sorry Derek, what I meant was that the basic information is out there somewhere. Might be costly to get hold of it though?? Tronity must have a link to the Porsche information somehow??
Those technical things are out of my comfort zone though.
