I think it's an option you have to check in your PCM. If I remember well I've turned it off because my wife didn't like it. I'll have a deeper look tomorrow.

Its definately part of Innodrive. If you ignore the hands on wheel alert long enough it will yank the seatbelt really hard.
Yes, this.

My 2021 (model and manufacturer year) does this and has innodrive.

I think Pre-tension is a different thing. When the car expects a hit, it tights up really hard the belt and then if there is a collision fires the pyro thing that further tightens the belt along with the airbag.

My Panamera did this when some moron cut me off and the car panicked. It smashed me pretty hard into the seat, emergency brakes and all that jazz :)

I too suspect it is ACC related because that’s how car measures distance from other vehicles and checks if your hands are on the wheel.

It is an ACC feature, as above. Activates at 18mph. Mine recently activated when a deer ran out in front of me and I hit the brakes as hard as I could. Fortunately missed the deer. As also stated above, pre-tensioning is different and relates to a charge that activates in a crash

I think this is called Active Seat Belt. Active Seat Belt is used to minimize driver injury risk in Autonomous Emergency Breaking (Warn & Brake in Porsche marketing wording) situation, especially from high speed.
AEB comes standard on Taycan but is less effective without Adaptive Cruise Control since it can't see as far ahead as the long range / high speed detection radar that comes with ACC.
To make it short: ACC+AEB => ASB ?

My GTS ST is @ Porsche Glasgow for the battery recall and software update.
I’ve had a 4s ST since Monday which is more or less a home from home.
One thing I noticed straight away was the seat belts pre tension as you drove off. I’ve had this in several cars including my 2020 RS4.
My GTS does not have this feature despite it stating it does in the standard spec.
Keen to hear from the group on this.

You need to option ACC (Adaptive Cruise Control) to have the auto tensioning belts - same as all other Porsche models.

The standard pre-tensioning is there by law so you have that and only operates in an emergency braking situation.

So presumably, while the standard spec emergency auto-tensioning system is operated by one-shot explosive or compressed gas devices, the routine automatic seat belt tightening system uses additional electronic hardware in the belt reels, which is only installed for other options (ACC, Innodrive, perhaps others too?).

But OP has a GTS ST as he posted. In the U.K. surely ACC is standard spec. So in such case the automatic tensioner at start should be included. Since so many have it in this thread, I am very surprised that the dealer can not confirm the feature. ACC should be in the build sheet and then it might be some settings or they have forgot to activate the function when programming the cr.

you'd like to think but its in a £1300 (without innodrive) extra on the GTS.

I have this on my My24 4S with ACC.. "the Taycan hug" (as my daughter calls it), was explained to me by the chap who took me around the PEC at Silverstone for me experience day, was the car assessing the 'padding' between you and the belt.. for example if you had a bulky coat/jumper on, the car assessing how much it needs to 'pull you in' by.

I'll just keep thinking of it as the hug and the car showing me some love and matching the affection I gush on it! :D

ACC is not standard on any UK Taycans (not even Turbo S).
We don't even get electrically folding mirrors as standard!
????
I knew about the folding mirrors, but when I looked at the standard spec for the GTS ST, I thought the following was ACC. But now that I read it more carefully it might not be??

It's not also known as The Confuserator without good reason ? Porsche don't make it easy to clearly understand the complete detail of options (maybe some of it gets lost in translation from German).
That item is the simple manually-set cruise control.

This is how it is stated in the Good to Know App! And it is not specific to any model, sp I would think this is a standard feature in all Taycans. Maybe there is fault In some of the cars. Worth talking to your service advisor.

This was how it was described in the now discontinued Good To Know app. I do not have my printed manual handy. There was a long thread about all of this in 2020.
