Buying a CPOed CT for the wife. Not the color she wants, but good deal. What would it cost to wrap it (East Coast - US)?

So, as I finally found a dealer with build spot (it just happens to be one I bought Cayman from when I was... younger) about 800 miles from my home, yes there is a freeze on the spots, but when he says he is giving me the 1st spot he gets, I have zero reason to not trust him.

Here is a fun bit, he mentioned he has a CT he has driven for a couple of months as a demo, and I am being offered a deal I can't refuse.

Problem: it is a car for the love of my life, my wife, a woman who always told me to get the vehicles I want and skip "reasonable". She wants PTS color... Viola Metalic. If I buy the CPOed CT, what would it cost me to get the car wrapped in the color she wants? I want to get it done right and don't want to deal with re-wrapping for maybe 5+ years.

Get the PTS.
If you saw the price and the miles on the car and the configuration :) Don't want to jinx the deal, so I will keep it to myself for right now (superstitious I am)

I mentioned to her if she does not grow fond of that rather nice stock color, I will get it wrapped. She was very open to it (she is a smartie, she knows a deal when she sees it).

I just had mine wrapped from white to black satin with a colored PPF ( more durable than vinyl, especially when doing a drastic color change)
Mine cost 7500 CaD but I got slight discount because I was referred to him by a friend

If by spot you mean allocation, then if he has one, frozen or not, he should have a "Commission Number" for that allocation, which he can tie to your account and it will start showing up in your MyPorsche app as "ordered" and estimated dates for next steps (such as freeze date, production start, etc). It will also display the build that the dealer entered into the order system, so it's a good way to verify they got everything correct before the freeze date. If he doesn't have a commission number, then he has no allocations whatsoever, so all you're getting is his word that you will get the first one the dealership receives, at some undetermined time in the future.

PS> I was #1 on the list at a few dealerships for over a year waiting for MY22 TTCT, then it rolled into MY23. The direct SAs told me "yep, you are fist on the list, but we honestly have no clue when we'll get an allocation". The spin doctor SAs would tell me "you'll get an allocation in 3-4 months" then go dark on me after 6 or 7 months have gone by. Now, it was COVID times (mid 2021 to late 2022) but still. The allocation I found was at yet another dealership where I was not on a waitlist.

More reason for me to take the CPO :) It is a superb config. And color is not objectionable, 1st car wife and I bought together was in that color.

Based on what i read here, a wrap would be 5-10k. Idk if the CT is more or less challenging (glass roof, wheel arches).

I’d echo what the others said - a proper allocation means you get “in the system” - you can see your order in Porsche’s (customer-facing) tracking system. Since they confirmed a freeze, it’s probably a couple of months to that point. Also, Porsche increased their PTS production rate five fold - to 25 cars/day. I reckon that adds even more of a delay to an order placed now. I think, with economy sentiment improving, we won’t see as many cancelations anymore, so I’d think in these circumstances the delivery time may be in 2025. (Which may come with a price increase, a yet-unknown facelift..)

On the other side, you could have this existing car at a price you like, uh, wrapped up by Christmas.

Absolutely. If external color is the only thing you want different, wrap it - you should be able to do a complete wrap for same or less than the PTS option alone. Even if you have to fix some panel wrap in a few years, so what - PTS paint isn't forever either, if you were to use PPF on top of it, it will require same maintenance as a wrap (PPF is a clear wrap).

Life is short. Waiting for an allocation you have at least a year wait, possibly longer. And it will probably be a new refresh look which you might not like as much, and possibly some teething issues with a new design, more than likely it will cost more money too. Of course, it might have things you like, but again, not for a while, and not for sure.

I’m central (Houston), but to give an idea…it would cost around $5k to wrap it at my son’s shop.

Get the CPO. You save some serious coin and get a better warranty. A win win! It sounds like you are ok with the color, so I would bet that will work out fine.
