Looking to get a few things coded/ programmed into my Taycan.

Does anyone know some one (independent, enthusiast, hobbyist or anybody) who has access to Porsche diagnostic & coding software (PIWIS 3/4) and would be willing to program some options on the Taycan at reasonable costs?

Dealerships are not really interested in programming/ coding cars to specific values.

Few examples of things I am looking to get coded:
- Turn indicators (change value to 5 flashes instead of 3)
- Change comfort access settings of driver seat moving backward by an additional 10 cms when unlocking door
- Turn rear lights on along with front DRLs (essentially rear light strip - on all the time along with Front daylight running lights)
- few more things...

I could do all this and a lot more in all my previous BMWs with readily available software.
Over the years, I even ran a few totally free open days to program/ code specific values for any BMW driver who cared to turn up...

I am assuming someone in the Porsche community will be able to help out.

Thanks.

Used to do the same with prev BNWs too - wish the heck there was something like the Bimmercode app for Porsche - we just replaced our Mini Cooper S and in reviewing the latest version it is frankly amazing how much I can modify with the above app.
Have found it quite a bit more difficult to do any of these mods on the Porsche platform.

I was lamenting how PIWIS is necessary just for basic maintenance:

https://www.taycanforum.com/forum/t...pdate-last-service-date-with-piwis-iii.17887/

I have access to one, and I have to say its a bit intimidating (at least in engineering mode) you can really mess your car up, so if you do get a hold of one, or find someone willing to re-code your Taycan, please make sure they know what they are doing. Ive found several threads in other forums where people have tried re-coding with PIWIS and wound up making a very expensive mistake!

The PIWIS action is mainly on Rennlist. The Taycan is not represented well there, so it’s mainly in regard to other models. The hobby use of PIWIS seems to not be as advanced as NCSExpert and Esys was for BMW.

I hadn’t heard of any new protection mechanism, if true, not sure that it’s really been circumvented.

You have to be careful if you buy cracked PIWIS. Most are from China. The version matters, in terms of what updates it contains and whether it works correctly or not. And don’t forget, the Taycan is one of the newest models, and still constantly changing. Not an aging 911 from years past that isn’t having any firmware changes. How long out of date at copy of PIWIS is with regards to a particular Taycan is good question.

Re PIWIS updates:
Per US Taycan TSB list compiled by @rs38 at https://ti-list.azurewebsites.net/ there have been 16 PIWIS updates since November 2022.
Not sure what the meaning of this post is. The cracked PIWIS don’t seem to have any update feature, because it has to run without connecting to the Porsche backend as part of circumventing the authorization. To put together a cracked PIWIS update, it sounds to me like somebody has to do some work to get it together, which means infrequent updates.

If the PIWIS device used by Taycan dealer service is updated frequently, and the updates are necessary for the device to properly diagnose and support Taycans, then a PIWIS device without the updates used by the dealer or someone else may not work properly on Taycans. Someone who purchased a PIWIS device a year ago would potentially need to install the equivalent of 16 updates for that device to be "current" with the dealer's device.

It is true that only the most up to date PIWIS will have the most up to date firmwares to flash, the most up to date recall information, able to set the newest settings, etc. However, even a year old PIWIS will likely still be able to perform things which have not changed, like set the rear light bar to go on with DRL, and many other things which were possible a year ago. Automotive devices tend to keep backwards compatibility, when they add a setting, the actually add it in at a previously unused address for example, they don't insert new settings where another setting used to be a shift all remaining ones up. So if Porsche adds a new setting, "Enable LC power at any time", one would require a new PIWIS to expose and change that setting, but if all you're looking to do is to change the side marker to blinker only, that's been there for years, so latest PIWIS not needed. The only time this breaks down is if they were to implement some new lock-down mechanism which locks down all ECUs and requires the latest PIWIS to change anything, but such a move would be a huge pain for service too, typically not worth doing as people would go around it soon enough so all the disruption and pain for service ends up locking motivated people out only for a few months at best.

Tesla has way more sophisticated security around their systems, and they played this cat and mouse game for a while, for example continually hiding the service mode behind ever rotating, even VIN specific at one point, passwords - today any owner can enter service mode if they just google how (since it's not in the user manual, as not officially supported, use at your own risk feature), the password is "SERVICE" IIRC and hasn't changed in a long time. Tesla Toolbox (PIWIS equivalent) is also available for rent from Tesla today. Want to screw up your Tesla, no problem, Tesla will rent you the latest diagnostic tool (and maybe even offer to fix what you mess up for you for an additional fee later).

Very true... latest updates only required if changing/ accessing latest features. Generally speaking a year old version would still deliver most 'cosmetic' features.

Looking for a PIWIS copy (software only) without the hard drive.. so I can install it on an existing system.

Not sure why you post the above information about the PIWIS?

The version you show is not the latest as can be seen on other posts,

The latest version in December is 42.300.050 & .052! Not what is stated in your post.

I Do not know anything about autonumen etc but It is not an official Porsche tool
