I wouldn't expect communication in either direction - either car to app or app to car.

Yup, it's part of that service but you should have it for 3 years from new.

If on your 2nd or 3 rd year you need to go through the renewal process which is zero charge at checkout.

Yes. I did loose the abillity in the app (car older than 3 years).
I was forced to renew Porsche connect deal to get it all back.

I had to research quickly and missed this until after I'd purchased. Not that it would have changed my mind but I was surprised when I learned Porsche only gives the first 3 years. Basic Audi Connect services are free 10 years in the US, although that might not be the case for their EVs.

We do not have free charging here in Europe. But there are two charges after the three year period.

Porsche Connect at €309

Porsche Charging Service which gives preferential prices at Ionity at € ?/ can’t remember the fee. €179

Yes just like BMW tried to charge a fee for seat heating in Sweden I think. That back fired on them dramatically though.

I guess the traditional manufacturers need a revenue stream to keep their expensive workshops open. EV’s do not require the maintenance that ICE cars need.
