Hello Porsche enthusiasts,

I recently joined the ranks of Porsche ownership with a 2021 Taycan RWD ( in Sweden ) and I'm hoping to tap into the collective wisdom of this forum for a couple of questions I have about my new ride.

Firstly, I've noticed that my Taycan doesn't have the ability to adjust the ride height, despite what I've seen in various videos. My options seem to be limited to Normal, Sport, and Sport Plus modes. Is it standard for all Taycans to come with air suspension, or is this a feature that my model might not have? I've seen discussions about the base suspension being steel springs, and I'm wondering if that's what I have since I can't raise my car.

Secondly, I've experienced some instability at speeds over 110 km/h, with the car occasionally pulling to the right or left. Could this be an issue with the car, or might it be related to wheel alignment? The tires and wheels are brand new, so I wouldn't expect them to be the cause. I've read that suspension issues can lead to steering instability, so I'm curious if anyone else has had a similar experience.

Lastly, are there any particular things I should keep an eye on with my Taycan? I've made sure to get all the recall updates done at my local Porsche dealership, but I want to make sure I'm not missing anything that could be crucial for maintaining my vehicle.

Thanks in advance for your help and insights!

Best regards,
Andreas

Pulling left/right is probably your "lane keep assist" which I find pretty useless. You can download ALK, active lane keep, which is useful for around US$1000 in the connect store.

Welcome to the forum.
Couple of suggestions for sources about maintaining and operating your Taycan.
This forum is an excellent source. I have found that searching the forum using google search gives more comprehensive results than forum search only.
If you want info about a specific topic or warning/error message, searching this forum with google is a good place to start.
Forum member @rs38 provides a site https://ti-list.azurewebsites.net/ that lists all of the Taycan TSBs (technical service bulletins) filed with US NHTSA. It is a good source for official Porsche statements about problems, etc.
Regarding Porsche campaigns, TSBs, recalls affecting your VIN. My experience is that my dealer gets the info about my VIN sooner than other methods, including Porsche VIN recall site. I call dealer service rep every now and then to find out if there is anything new affecting my Taycan.

Hi Andreas, welcome to the Taycan owners club. I would like to see if you can share your car build sheet so we can look at your complete option list as a starting point before advising on what to do. First, Air Suspension height would be adjustable from the Car menu under Chassis Height, if you have it, and would have a Lift function and light on the right side of the instrument cluster. Secondly, instability at high speeds if LKA is not on is most likely due to alignment being off, so I would spend on the alignment check and get a printout. I recently did this and it was not expensive to do just a check to make a decision on what to do from there.

Welcome Andreas! Yes, this forum is very is a wonderful resource, plus a nice group of folks here. Providing your build code would shed light on what you have bought there.

Please just disregard most of my comments… mostly not helpful at all.

Thank you for your warm welcome and for sharing your insights. I've checked and can confirm that I do not have air suspension on my Taycan. It appears that the thread regarding air suspension adjustment doesn't apply to me, so let's leave that topic aside. :)

Regarding the high-speed instability, there isn't a significant difference whether Lane Keeping Assist (LKA) is on or off. At higher speeds, it's a bit hard to describe, but it feels like I'm driving over a very, very fine washboard – there's a slight vibration, and it produces a somewhat noticeable sound. Additionally, there are moments when the car slightly veers to the left and right. While this could be due to poorly maintained roads, it seems prudent to proceed with a wheel alignment or vehicle adjustment check to see if there's an underlying issue. Of course, there's always a possibility that brand-new tyres and wheels could be at fault, but I believe that probability is relatively low, don't you think?

Thanks again for your advice and kind support!

I would try a check on the tyres and balance for a start. I have had an effect of the car pulling to one side on a BMW M5, that was due to incorrect dynamic balancing.

Let a good experienced tyre shop check it. Avoid any of these quick fit tyre changers.

I f you are in Stockholm, I can recommend Vanadisgaraget. They found issue with my wheels being out of perfect round shape, that no other fitter had found, despite trying 4 different ones, on the trip.

Hi @Andreas Hoynala, and welcome to the forum. I would expect you to be on winter tyres this time of the year. Many of them are both inside/outside, as well as rotation specific. It is quick and easy to check for yourself that all four tyres have been monted the correct way on the wheels.

Good luck.

IME sporty cars on wide low profile tyres are prone to lateral forces on worn roads, particularly if worn into “ruts” by HGVs. It is due to camber thrust, which is a tyre characteristic which all tyres have but is stronger on wide low profile tyres.
