New 2025+ Taycan rear light retrofit onto gen 1 Taycan?

I really like the rear light design of the gen2 Taycan. The Porsche letters should have been part of the rear light in gen1 IMO.

I’m aware not everyone will like it, but what are the chances that the new rear lights are fitting the gen1? Most of the bodywork in the upper part of the vehicle seems the same, or will it be a wiring issue. Too soon to ask my dealer ship for parts, I’m just trying to see what the chances are

What do all think? (About the retrofit part, not your taste part haha, we have enough threads about opinions on the design already)

Agree - not everyone's taste and to add insult to injury Porsche are happy to charge for the pleasure!

One I'd skip on the confuserator.

Suggest waiting until the car is actually available - suspect deliveries won't begin until Q2 (June time onwards).

Actually it was present when the car was announced in 2019!

there was quite a story behind the illuminated/animated rear light strip on J1 models, I specced the glacier blue front and rear light for my first 4S in 2020 when it became available, and it was highlighted in the sales material that the optioned rear light strip also has the welcome home function, which is the same from you see on the optioned max led highlight (animates from right to left and vice versa). Upon collecting the car in Jan 2021 we figured that function wasn't there, and the dealer didn't know it existed but they acknowledged that it should be working as advertised, so they sent a support request to Porsche AG with the same video you just shared here, Porsche AG responded nearly 6 months later with "this function is on hold for further development", and they can't do anything for the moment, later they corrected on the configurator that the rear light strip does not animate, end of the story.

now the animated rear light strip is finally available with J1 II, however I personally dislike the illuminated PORSCHE logo esp in Red, they should program it to work in conjunction with the ambient light.

There is no iluminated LED porsche logo in the video? What exactly are you talking about? What animation - the neons from above the car illuminating a piece of glass?

The porsche writing? it exists on J1 taycans also....

Or are you talking about the red LED strip going on slowly? More than likely just some lost code in the PCM, since we all know how good the pcm is...

Also can't understand why anyone would want something as kitch as a LED AD on his car...

I don’t believe you can have anything other than RED illumination on the rear of a vehicle For safety reasons. At least not here in the UK.

I both agree and...disagree. Half of my brain says it screams gaudy and tasteless while the other half says "I like it". Reminds me of the 3 episode show that ran in the early 1990's named Herman's Head. If it could be turned on/off, I'd probably want it. That way both halves could be happy 50% of the time.

Hello,
I ask my partner dealer Porsche to try to have some information about the rear tailight.
He have a look on all of the number between rear tailight phase 1 et phase 2.
For exemple the rear tailight letters Porsche "blue glacier" on the phase 1 and on the phase 2(available on option on the configurator),it's not the same number
For him no retrofit possible.

Hmm, probably needs a setting in the software.. does the welcome-home animation work for you?
