I emailed my stuff 2/16. I think that's a respectable turnaround time given the volume of responses they are probably managing right now. Good luck and be patient. I am sure you'll be hearing soon. How long before you got a reply?
So much for my potentially clever idea of buying the Primecom with the extra-(extra-)long cable and plugging it into the 14-50 outlet on the rear deck for the non-existent hut tub: the setup for the hot tub was hard-wired, hence no outlet there at all now, just a long wire (oddly enough, only 30a) running there from the 50a breaker in the panel, with a 60a GFCI along the way.It doesn't look like primecom has many independent reviews although good ones on Amazon. I'm also interested in that unit so hope you'll report what you end up doing.
If you're running a new wire anyways, I'd put in 60A circuit and breaker, get a 48A EVSE.So much for my potentially clever idea of buying the Primecom with the extra-(extra-)long cable and plugging it into the 14-50 outlet on the rear deck for the non-existent hut tub: the setup for the hot tub was hard-wired, hence no outlet there at all now, just a long wire (oddly enough, only 30a) running there from the 50a breaker in the panel, with a 60a GFCI along the way.
I'll revert back to the original plan to have an electrician run a new wire from the 50a breaker to the nearby (yet detached) garage, and hope that Porsche will reimburse me for the TUWC (even though it's not really a direct substitute for the OEM mobile charger).
Yep, that would be my preference, although the constraint might be the 100a main panel, and perhaps also the service wire coming from the utility pole ... tbd, although perhaps not until later on when the electrician can provide a detailed estimate. If you're running a new wire anyways, I'd put in 60A circuit and breaker, get a 48A EVSE.
I thought that the combination of Porsche OEM EVSE + Leviton 14-50 outlet means that your house will have burned down to the ground long before August 31?I charged my Taycan 4S today to 75% and checked the temp of the cables.
I was charging with 8.5 KW and the cables weren't even warm.(it's 50 F here today)
I wonder if it helps that all the electrical components are within a foot of the panel box, so cable lengths are very short.
I am inclined to simply continue with what I have....the Porsche charger/cables that came with the vehicle.
The receptacle is a Leviton, and shows no sign of heat damage.
We have until August 31, 2024 to file a claim, so if things change, I still have time to do it.
I'd put in 60A anyways, then limit it via settings to less if needed. I'd probably make all EVSE's Tesla Universal ones so you can further limit their total draw on the house, or individual circuit.Yep, that would be my preference, although the constraint might be the 100a main panel, and perhaps also the service wire coming from the utility pole ... tbd, although perhaps not until later on when the electrician can provide a detailed estimate.
Just be sure to put in a firebreak between your house and the detached garage!Fortunately, the charger is in my garage, so only the detached garage/shop will go up in smoke.
A snow-covered mamba green Taycan, the perfect combo! The Taycan serves as the fire break...it's in the driveway between the house and the garage
