Just got a recall notice from Porsche that my Porsche charger's 240 V cable will be replaced (someday)..in the meantime I can buy another charger and be re-imbursed up to $600. Interestingly, even tho the recall is tied to my car's VIN, that VIN does NOT show (yet?) as a recall on NHTSA site (perhaps because the car itself is not recalled?).

Anyway, I think I'll buy a charger (portable)(NEMA 14-50) .leaning towards a TESLA charger. Anyone have a recommendation?
Enel Juice box I have at another location works great if you want a recommendation

From a letter I read I’m guessing that because supply of the replacement cables is highly constrained that they (legally?) have to provide customers a way to home charge their car whilst the supplied OEM unit is effectively inoperable.
Basically to me it reads like they refuse to admit the shortcomings of the OEM unit but at least they are apparently finally stepping up to replace it?
Typically tortuous and somewhat confusing response!
Exactly

Torn between JuiceBox 48 and Chargepoint Home Flex hardwired. 48amp minimum for me, though tempted to go with something like ClipperCreek HCS-80, but it seems to lack any ability to track charge history or remotely monitor.

P.S. Not considering anything Elon makes.

You live in the US. We have thousands of class action lawyers just waiting to pounce at this. Were you expecting a love letter with profound apologies? C'mon. Let's be real here, folks, and stop mental ma$$turbation on what PCNA shoulda coulda. You are getting $600 to buy something else while they figure out their cable situation. Go get what you want.

I have both a Juicebox and a (new) Chargepoint ! Both seem quite adequate altho the Chargepoint is (I think **) more expensive but I like the way the Chargepoint stores the handle better.

(** I got the Juicebox thru my utility at a highly discounted cost 3 years ago....so direct comparison not doable)

that's not a new Charger - that's the $1120 optional charger that's been available since 2019 (and was not optional in 2019/2020)

not a new charger.
So far it is working better than the one that came with the GTS in 2022. I’ll keep you posted on its performance. Porsche tells me it’s been upgraded. Who knows.
Daveo, I appreciate your guidance on this and so many other items.

Have no idea what you are rambling on about - nothing in my response to @daveo4EV ’s comment re his ‘confusion’ as to what Porsche was doing with replacing a cable vs offering a refund had anything to do with your comments - perhaps you’re response directed at someone else? Personally couldn’t give a toss as to whatever letter is sent out and I have not received mine as yet.

chargepoint. They sell a replacement cable for the unit with a NACS connector, so it’s effectively future proof and will have a longer useful life.

Got my letter from PCNA today - and as per others Porsche stepping up to cover $600 for a 3rd Party EVSE to allow time to have OEM replacement cables delivered to swap out of OEM unit.

Sent in the required docs and curious to see how quickly they will be processed.

A good deal imo albeit perhaps 2 years overdue :)!

All, I contacted Porsche NA to ask about eligible chargers to qualify for $600 rebate. They sent me this document. Tesla Universal Charger not explicity listed so who knows if they will reimburse for it.

"Below are a couple of 40 Amp units which are also from reputable companies, but by drawing 40 Amps, these would potentially have the same issue as our 40 Amp unit with current draw and potential overheating when used with lower quality outlets"

??? (passed out)

Thank you for sharing, @4thPcar, my reaction is restricted solely to PCNA's verbiage above.

@daveo4EV Why didn't you ever give us the advice in this document?

in his defense, the advice in the document sucks and he acquired all his charging equipment long before this mess. Its not his job to advise us. But I suspect you are joking anyway. Tough to see the sarcasm behind some posts. ;)
