Hello everyone,

I'm new here so I am sorry if there is a post for this (I searched). I am looking to purchase a used Taycan 4s. About once a month, I do a trip that is about 415 miles. What are must have options or post purchase accessories that I should have for this?

- Performance Battery Plus?
- Intelligent Range Manager?
- I have seen options with different onboard chargers, cables, etc. I will clearly want to make use of the fastest charging speeds on the road. Do I have that capability with every Taycan?
- I know we can charge at Tesla chargers, does that include the fastest charging options at these chargers?

Additionally I saw the posts about the mobile chargers overheating or being defective? Is this something I would just check by a visit to the dealer?

Any other insightsI should know would be great. I appreciate everyone's help and look forward to being a part of the community.

Performance Battery Plus. Onboard 150KW charger for when the Tesla network access is granted to Porsche vehicles sometime next year...otherwise you'll be charging at 50KW with the Chevy Bolts.

I don't see value in the Porsche Intelligent Range Manager, but I think you may be able to add it via Function On Demand if the car doesn't have it, and you want it....verify that instead of taking my word for it.

Your trip is likely the same one regularly, so you'll quickly learn where your preferred charging stops will be.

Every Taycan will DCFC at the same rate at non-Tesla chargers, I believe.

Best wishes, and welcome.

Numerous recalls on the mobile chargers mean Porsche effectively has no 240V plug in charger for the North American market. A trip to your dealer will confirm any recalls but be warned that some might take the 240V power cables, leaving you with only the 120V one. The good news is that Porsche is reimbursing up to $600 for you to purchase a third party charger (EVSE) for use instead.

Welcome to the forums.

I don’t have these but ACC and HUD would make long distance travel more comfortable. I would also optimize my wheel and tire selection if I was planning on road tripping the Taycan.

Have downloaded and be very familiar with the excellent route charging aps that will assist you on your trip planning with my # 1 being A Better Route Planner, though I use several others too.

And in advance trip planning, such as re-checking the night before that none of those aps have reported last minute breakdown issues with any of your proposed charging locations. Also I check the weather in advance not just the week before but also again the night before, for as we all know a late-blooming cold spell and/or late-forecasted heavy rain or wind will effect trips plans I made the week before. The old “be prepared.”

My must-haves for longer trips:
- the larger battery
- heated seats and steering wheel
- air suspension
- adaptive lights (PDLS, plus or not)
- ambient lights (ok, maybe not a must, but it bugs the hell out of me when one of the cupholders goes dark)
- good tunes (these I have to bring myself, it wasn’t an option on my car)

Other than that, the car is a damn fine continent eater straight out of the box.
Happy trails, and good luck with the search.

My list based on 1000 mile road trip in Turbo S:

Heads-up-display,
Massage seats,
Innodrive (just because it is helpful and works on well-known roads),
Burmester sound system,
optional Passenger screen (if you have passengers present)
not necessarily in that order.

If you are doing long trips on fairly straight roads the 19” wheels will give the most comfortable ride and best electric consumption. They may not have quite as much grip as the big ones but you won’t need it as much as the better efficiency.

The ventilated massage seats are the most popular option on our Taycan.

Hello and welcome. Unless you live in Northern Montana, I think you’ll find the most of the major roads in the US offer sufficient charging options to prevent any range anxiety. I just finished a 620 mile drive with no major issues. With 3-year of free charging on the EA network it’s kind of a no brainer, but there are list of alternatives along the way if you get stuck. The predictive range feature is very accurate, and I’ve found in many cases it tends to underestimate the remaining range.

With that in mind, here’s the options I ordered on mine:
1. Performance Plus Battery. Yes, it’s expensive, but you’ll never regret having more range.
2. ACC and ALK, unless you want to be actively engaged during a 10-hour drive down the interstate.
3. Intelligent Range Manager. It’s more than a program that finds charging stations. It selects the fastest in your driving area, and optimizes the time you need to charge to get you back on the road. Additionally, when used with the Range driving mode, it will provide the most efficient cruising speed to get to your destination in the shortest time, e.g. you can drive at 70 and get to the destination with 3 charges, or 80 with 4-5 charges.
4. Ventilated front seats. I prefer the 18-way adjustable for a custom fit, but the 14-way would also work well.
5. Acoustic glass. Extremely quiet, and makes a high-end sound system sound even better.
6. If you want range and a smoother ride stick with 20” or 19” wheels. If performance is what you’re after, go bigger, but the ride will suffer and you’ll be replacing those performance tires more frequently.
7. 150Kw DC charger, otherwise, you’ll be sitting for a long time next to your Chevy Bolt buddies!
Hope this helps, good luck!

@kamek9 just be aware that, if you purchase a new 2025, free EA charging is only one year. The 24 and earlier give you three years. It might not matter to your situation but knowledge is power. :like:
