I didn’t PPF because I’d never had issues before on previous cars. This one has numerous chips on the bumper and wing mirrors ? haven’t had them sorted yet but will do

I’m not sure if the usual ChipsAway type person would be able to fix it well enough so probably a proper body shop. Haven’t really thought to be honest yet

PPF the whole car. Drove it from the dealer to the PPF shop. When an elderly gentleman sideswiped my car trying to pull into a parking spot, the paint streak he left wiped right off. Since it was along the back of the car (non-metal portion), there were no dents, so all I had to do was replace the PPF, and it’s as good as new. I posted pictures elsewhere on the forum.

The previous owner from my dealership had a protective film installed on the bumper, hood, front quarter panels & mirrors so I have not seen any stone chips yet that have gotten through this plastic film to breach the paint.

Wish I had done PPF day one. One year on, after quite a few stone chips on my hood, I just did PPF. It looks fantastic and is going to protect against future chips, but am considering removing the PPF from my hood, having it professionally painted and then putting the PPF back on. PPF day 1 is worth it!!!

Despite getting full PPF pretty much as soon as I could drive the car across a bridge, I was recently devastated to find that I had taken a rock hit so hard right to the front that I could feel a tear all the way through the film.

I was at the detailer for a followup visit on my spouse's car and asked if there was anything I could do to sort of patch my hole to at least keep it from spreading, or whether I should just have them replace that front panel covering entirely.

The owner of the shop went into the garage, came out with a rag soaked in isopropyl alcohol, and proceeded to remove the stubbornly stuck dead bug from the film, which solved the problem nicely.

Ask your installer if they think that "paint correction" would be possible for your situation. If so, it might be considerably less expensive than repainting it entirely.

I was told that because the chips are though the clear coat and down to the undercoat, they could not get them out, so they would still appear like small white dots.

I have PPF then I think I may have one that was there before we applied the film.
The car is 30k and looks new but the windshield is having a ton of tiny impacts super visible when the light is from the side.
