I selected Taycan and Zappi, then it asked if I wanted car integration (which I presume meant, not the Zappi integration), then just authenticated with Porsche, plugged in the car, it did a test charge and switched my tariff instantly - I was pretty impressed!
Its subsequently messed up a couple of charges - one didnt quite hit the target - and one just didnt map and the car proceeded to charge at peak rate. So not great - but the important thing is that im on the 7.5p night rate now.

@bn8959 : I have a similar setup so I'm interested in your experience - hopefully since Oct '23 you've found a setup which works. Also, I believe the Porsche integration with Octopus will have improved greatly.

I've just got a Taycan and have IO with Zappi. I set up car integration with Octopus and see both timer and profile settings appear in the car when it's plugged in; I have no other timers or profiles set. However, last night I saw only a very small charge at 3am, not the charge to 60% I requested.

Question: do I leave Zappi in Eco+? Will IO control Zappi as well as set the car to charge? - or should I set Zappi to Fast? BTW I also have solar so it's useful to leave Zappi in Eco+ so I get free charging on sunny days.

My experience has been that it’s far better to integrate with the Zappi and I’ve stuck with that and it’s been working really well.

if you integrate OI with the car you basically have to have the Zappi in fast mode - defeating all its solar integration benefits.

when it’s integrated with the Zappi, then it will always be in Eco+ mode, so will do solar charging when there is excess. There are many other benefits too. Have a read through my comments in this thread:

Note particularly the trick of getting more hours at a the lower rate.

With the current export rates though, you don’t actually want to charge from solar! Better to export it, then charge at the 7p rate.
What I did find was, when in Eco+ and on a sunny with cloud day, the charging stopped and started so much, the Taycan gave up trying to charge. I now tend to plug in in the evening and get the OI lower rate to charge from.

hope that helps!

I’ll second this setup, it’s how I work it too
