Is this kit/paint factory? Or aftermarket ?

Hi all,

We just took delivery of a 2023 Taycan 4s - sample paint olive green. I am seeing the back bumper was painted probably due to a scratch or dent..:: and then I investigated further and it looks like all the kit around the wheel well is also uneven texture. Could this be from the factory or was there likely more damage to this vehicle ? Thank you !!

I have never seen anything like this on any Porsche car - ever, not to mention the scratches all over the images on the back bumper cover. This looks like a horrible repaint on the bumper cover.

Did you obtain the monroney window sticker? Perhaps this is a special Exclusive Manufactur design. They do some crazy stuff.

Looks like a cross turismo with the plastic trim painted in body colour? I suspect the trim could be cosmetic and not because of a crash or damage. Original coarse black plastic trim looks horrible to some. I am usually not a big fan either, but given this paintjob (def not factory imho), I might reconsider.

Thank you ! Yes turns out after more inquiry that the owner paint matched all black trim. You can’t notice unless you’re super up close (which I am, and do). I suppose will leave it this way .

Looks like Porsche Paint To Sample (PTS).

Only Turbo S CT models have factory painted arches (gloss black) as standard and not an option on other models.

The color match seems spot on, so thats great. And yeah, pictures can sometimes exaggerate very minor flaws. Doubt anyone will notice. But even then, if it looks good to YOU, just rock it! Cool unique car?, enjoy it?

Still a really poor job by the paint shop. I had my flat black plastic trims painted and they look close to factory finish.

It is certainly annoying that I could catch it — but I agree it looks way better than black. I appreciate all the help!

It's a cross turismo. The plastic trims are supposed to be black. Maybe the previous owner color matched them

You'd have thought they'd have flatted/smoothed the plastic parts before painting.

Was it bought from a dealer? I'd be talking to them about it.

Do you have photos of the full car? Those wheels look like a great combo with the Olive paint

I think the panels would have looked fine in black too though.

If the finish bothers you, talk to the dealer ASAP.

I prefer the painted kit TBH. The wheels are busy so another body color I think would be too distracting

It’s been fun to drive too !

Where the painter went wrong on this job is in the prep. That plastic trim is textured on most cross tursimos but if it is going to be painted, then the texture must be removed first. The alternative would have been to start with smooth trim pieces from factory.
