I don’t understand why a happy Tesla owner would ever buy a Porsche Taycan. This will likely end with that former Tesla owner crying in their beer about software, depreciation, and value for money.

Personally, because I am a happy Taycan owner and would never buy a Tesla.

Just a heads up to the OP to potentially save you some money and heartache.

Thanks for wise advice. Probably think alike as if I were to configure my car Inwould have ideally chose ice grey metallic and really wanted the black/chalk interior as all my cars have been black interior.
I bought it at full price, new, configured exactly how I wanted after waiting a year for it:
- Ordered May 2022
- Allocation given January 2023
- Delivered June 2023
- 10k miles now and just pure joy
- Prefer original look of exterior and interior to 2025
- You can read my comparison to 2025 equivalent with pros/cons
- Considering Redshift performance upgrade after learning more from Turbo owners who have it

The wheel painted elements can be easily painted to match exterior like an OEM matched wheel would, so this would not be a deal breaker for me, also you may like the Brilliant Silver look of the wheels on the Carrara, give it a chance, since I think it goes well with exposed rotors that get mirror like silver.

If you’re unsure the lease is really low for a high option turbo. I would just go that route. A similar lease on a 25 will be in the 3-4 range. You will at least know how much you will loose in that two years. If you know you want to buy to keep I would look at 20-22 with cpo for a lot cheaper.

Teslas are too numerous where I live, probably more than any area in the country, making me feel now I’m driving a civic. When I first got it and only one had Model 3 performance, felt happy. I actually always wanted a Porsche like everyone in this forum and wanted a 911. I’m actually 2nd on a list (after waiting for a year) for an allocation for the 992.2 GTS at MSRP but my wife not approving that car as essentially a two seater, gas powered and a 2 door. You are right in that Tesla I would be happy, but the only one I see that with is a Roadster, which seems years away still despite the the reports. And who said I’m getting rid of the Tesla. That’s my daily driver as drive 80 miles a day minimum for work.

Can anyone provide the 0-60 times on Genertation 1 Taycan Turbo without launch (as I will never use it) and Generation 2 2025 Taycan 4s and Turbo without launch to help me decide to wait for a 2025. Only thing pushing me towards newer one is the battery newer tech with longer range. I don’t know if we will see drop in Turbo prices in next two years as much as current ones.

Any driving performance metrics depend on a lot of factors. I am sure some forum members have the numbers that you are looking for. I can only help by sharing the actual kW power differences between the trims and say that I never feel that gen 1 Turbo has any lack of power during normal driving and assume any speed improvements in the 2025 version may only be noticeable on track.

Gen 1 Turbo has 460kW peak without Launch Control. This graph shows that 2025 Turbo without Launch Control has +60kW more peak at 520kW and then +70kW additional when in Push-to-Pass 10 sec mode.

If I were to get the 2025, I would have to go the 4s route as similar in price points. I think a highly options G1 Turbo is better than a mildly optioned G2 4s if at similar costs? Any thoughts?

a lot more depreciation for J1.5 if that’s of any consideration. Also think J1 looks better than 1.5. The new one is also noticeably faster old Turbo should be around the 4S now.

As to driving dynamics and enjoyment you won't be able to tell the difference between the '23 and the '25. Show the dealer the depreciation on the '23 and tell him you will lease it for two years for $1,000 per month. When the dealer declines, walk out and wait for a phone call.
